random thoughts

...we had an answer to Britain's problem. It was to legalize pot and let homosexuals marry and Britain would be the richest nation on earth. It's as simple as that.

have you heard the "perfect circle" version of imagine. it's real good.

I know you made reference to going through this checkpoint charlie bullshit before, but is this travel between states or are you driving into a different country? If this is between states, than this is total bullshit and they have no business interfering with interstate travel of a private citizen without cause.

Wasn't England one of the richest nations on earth when they sold slaves, had indentured servitude and tyranically ruled colonies all over the world. They could try that again.

Q: Why does the sun never set on the British Empire?

A: Because not even God would trust an Englishman in the dark.

the border patrol has a check point on the only highway that leaves nogalas arizona some times they have it at kilometer 25, and sometimes it is at kilometer 40. i live in america and enter the highway at kilometer 17 and my work, also in america, is located at kilometer 34. (yes interstate 19 is marked in kilometers don't ask me why.) when i go to work and the checkpoint is at km 25 i have to stop and tell them that i am an american citizen. if they get a wild hair up their ass, i can be pulled to the side and they run a drug dog around my car. if the hair digs deeper, i could end up with all of my personal things tossed about on the side of the highway. yes they are armed and yes i am obligated to cooperate with their requests. it has been a minimum of an inconvience so far....

p.s. i'm not even leaving the state of arizona when i pass through the check point.

Thank a drunk driver next time you hit a checkpoint. I believe, but am far from certain, that a DUI checkpoint case went to the Supreme Court and allowed this kind of random detention of motor cars.
I'm all for crime prevention and stuff, but damn. Which amendment prevents illegal search and seizure?
Also, I wonder if its MORE legal since it isn't at an interstate border and there's no claim of obstructing interstate commerce. And lastly, how in the hell did AZ end up with kilometers on the highway? It just makes it look like you're going even faster when doing 100 mph between towns.

OK, I think I get what's going on. You're actually travelling deeper into the US on your way to work. Did I get that right? I'm kind of surprised that such a checkpoint is this far in from the border. They probably figure that anyone coming in illegaly won't use the highway near the border, but as they get in deeper they may venture on to the highway system after the coyotes(the smugglers not the animals) hook them up w/ some kind of ride. Of course I'm assuming this is set up for some type of illegal immigration prevention as most other things would probably be handled by state law enforcement.

In this case, Illegal search and seizure would be hard to come by ....the only thing a cop/ law enforcment needs is probable cause in order to search you or your vehicle...
