Where were you August 16, 1977?

I was at Steve's house when his older brother came bouncing out into the living room yelling the king is dead the king is dead! When I asked who the king was my older cousin replyed "you know Elvis, the king if rock and roll), and again I replied who? Bob then proceeded to find an Elvis record and played "Hound Dog" to which we all proceeded to bounce around the room barking and screaming "you aint nothin but a hound dog"... What do you expect we were only 6 years old.

I was only 4 as well, so I don't remember the King's demise. but I would agree with E in saying that the vast majority of his music was fairly unimpresive. Some of his early Sun Records stuff was good though.
A freind of mine says that if Buddy Holly would have lived his fame would have eclipsed Elvis'.

You boys both better take back your slanderous comments before Frank hears them. I know of a velvet Elvis painting who is shedding a tear for the both of you right now!

I, too, was 4. So, while I'm sure it was all over the media I don't recall the event. I've got to dig up some photos of me w/ Europe's #1 Elvis impersonator "Emerald Elvis. We stumbled upon him at a "nightclub" in Ireland. He played In the Ghetto for me.

I believe I purchased a velvet Elvis for Frank many moons ago - I remember looking for one for months and then finding a place in Bucktown. I called and asked them to hold it for me, when I got there they had 50 of them...
