From the Mouths

So my older son is here at the shop and we are playing sort of an informal name that tune. It's a long running game: when a new song comes on, someone spouts off with as much information about the song as possible.
It's starting to slow down at the shop so I have been playing "My" music from my laptop's I-tunes.
and Son#1 says "Dad, thanks for introducing me to the cool music you listen to" he's going to be 12 this week.
That's it, I just thought it was cool, and I wanted to share.

Yeah, its a pretty neat feeling when the kids say or do things like that. Right now, the kid of mine is into silly kids music, hard to describe, its not juvenile, its just off the wall kind of stuff a.k.a. XM Satellite radio. But then on the other hand, I can catch her humming along to Hank Williams Sr. within the very next breath.

Shes still way too young for the Social D. bootlegs though. I dont really listen to their studio albums anymore because I have collected a HUGE mass of bootleg live shows from the boys that keep me entertained and she just cant have a go at those yet, Mike likes to use his potty mouth too much for right now. I know sooner or later shes gonna learn those lovely little words, but it isnt gonna be from me.

Lots of Sinatra lately.

the one (and only) advantage to not censoring myself or my music around the boys is that, I will rarely have to ask myself "Where did he pick that up?"
Generally speaking, my actions and tastes are fairly honarable...
that being said, the other day, Lords of Acid, the Pussy song, came on the old I tunes, I fast forwarded through that one, to many questions.
Tiff does the sex talk

Hah, good story, I liked that. Yeah, I dont plan on handling much of the sex talk either, unless Im directly asked to.

I just dont want my girl developing a "mouth" on her at 6 years old, ya know?
