Is Iran Next?

By SALLY BUZBEE The Associated PressWednesday, April 12, 2006; 3:56 PM

CAIRO, Egypt -- Iran's boast that it has joined "the club of nuclear countries" by enriching uranium may rattle the Western world. But diplomats and experts familiar with the program say Iran still is far from producing any weapons-grade material needed for bombs and may be exaggerating its own progress.

So what do you think? Will they be next on our Police the World Tour?

I dont think they will be. I think we will however remain in Iraq until this administration runs out of time and then the next one will begin a real exit stradegy.

I was agahst this morning, and was shouting prohanities at the radio when I heard this story. Of course that led to me (poorly) explaining to Max and Jake what was going on.

no tunes, im at work.

Yeah, its pretty crazy to think that a bunch of these madmen could have the power to make a nuke at will sometime in the future. These are the kind of things that the Admin. should be addressing with diplomacy and such right from the get go, but of course we will start it with idle threats.

nothing, watching TV.

Yeah, I think we should first piss our pants, then give up some more civil liberties.

hey, we have to fight. the terrorists want to take our freedom away. of not one of the actions of the terrosists (from the other side) has removed one freedom. all of our lost freedom seems to come from our own terroists (i mean administration)

I'm not crazy about when journalists use the "some experts say" device without naming the experts, as Ms. Buzbee does in her piece.

There's a U of M professor named Juan Cole who has a well respected blog on the Middle East. Here's his take: (Link to Juan Cole).

I believe that our lame duck arrogant lying half indicted Carlise Group managed Rummy rim jobbing administration may be too hobbled by lies and insuations of the truth to manage a forary into Iran before 2008.
Then again, Diebold did give them the 2004 election. Anything is possible.
As for remembering our civil liberties, weren't those the good ole days. I remember checking books out from the library and not worrying that they might put me on a watch list.
I remember making jokes about various administrations over cordless or cellular phones without thoughts of the NSA's opinions of my comments.
I remember the days before designated protest areas.

Did you all here the story about the plans being drawn up at the pentagon to blow up the nuclear facilities? That might preclude the need for ground troops.

I find the soldiers might be against going in right after the tactical nukes.

There's a series of opinions for you.
