Southern Pride!

---What do you guys think of this? From SG.com---

Georgia State Senator Jeff Mullis has decided we should celebrate the greatness of the Confederacy by giving it an entire month. Mullis wrote a bill that would make April Confederate History and Heritage Month. The bill was passed with a unanimous vote in the Senate Rules Committee and will be sent to the full Senate for a vote.

The bill would honor the memory of the Confederacy and "all those millions of its citizens of various races and ethnic groups and religions who contributed in sundry and myriad ways to the cause of Southern Independence."

I feel the need to point out that there never was a civil war in the USA. By definition, a civil war is where 2 or more factions are fighting for control of the same government. The War For States' Rights was not about control of the US government, but about the south's desire to govern themselves as an independent nation.

There is a book titled Jefferson Davis was Right that a co worker of mine read. He said that it wasn't a bad book except the the author kept citing his own work from his previous books.
I haven't verified any of this, it's heresay so take if for what it's worth.

I do have mixed feelings about the civil war. Citizens felt that they were not being represented properly in the current government. Applying the concept that the government rules at the consent of the people, they had cause to seek independence. This is a simplistic analysis, but on a basic level I think it has some truth to it.
