BAGHDAD, Iraq May 30, 2006 (AP)— Saddam Hussein and his defense team complained about unfairness Tuesday in his trial on crimes against humanity, demanding equal time to present their case and saying one of their witnesses had been killed and others wouldn't testify because they were wanted by authorities.

The defense did not identify the slain witness or give any other details. But it said his death illustrated the difficulty of defending Saddam and seven former members of his regime against charges including killing and torture in a crackdown on Shiites prompted by an assassination attempt against Saddam in the town of Dujail in 1982.

Thats ironic, Hussein claiming unfairness....

Yeah, but the least of his crimes is being a hypocrite. The trial should be fair for a couple of reasons. First of all, trials should be fair. second, if there is to be any expectation that this trial be considered legitimate by any would-be detractors, it is necessary that it be shown that Hussein has received a competent defense heard by an impartial judicial panel. there are people that will denounce the trial no matter what, but there should be no doubt among reasonable people that this was not a kangaroo court.

i also want all of you to know that while this bloody dictator was gassing his own people and the enemy troops from iran, the good old u.s. of a. was right there at his side holding his hand and our military advisors were aiding the targeting with our satelite footage.

plus mr. rumsfeld was the diplomat that broke the ice with saddam in the first place and brokered the deal to sell saddam the wmd's

It never ceases to amaze me that John Lennon gets shot 5 times by a fan, but people like Hussain keep bounding around.
