While often attributed to Kurt Cobain, "It's better to burn out than to fade away" was actually coined by Achilles, before the Battle of Troy.

---Interesting fact, but the more I think about it, the more I realize Cobain was nothing but a drug addicted loser.---

he was a great musician, despite his addiction. imagine what he could have done if he wasn't so fucked up.

Someone wrote, I don't recall who, that unless you're a Roman senator or a samurai, suicide is a selfish, cowardly act.

Not sure why those two groups are exceptions, other than it's kind of built into their sub-culture that it's an honorable way to punch out.

whenever I hear about someone commiting suicide I always think about the ancient samurai warrior, I dont know why.

If you were a cynic (who me?)
you could say that he was killing himself one fix at a time and he just saved his family a little trouble and money by expediteing the process a bit
