OK, this isnt gonna be easy for me

---but since I love you guys, I will fill you in as to why I am far from grown up, why I fuck up bad at times and why I look up to people like Mike Ness as my heroes. This DOES NOT go beyond this blog brothers and if anyone is reading this that is not worthy of being called an OMI brother, well, you can read, but you can also go to hell, this isnt on your dance card.

When I was young (between the ages of 5-9 and 10ish) I was severely sexually abused by my Father and his whore of a girlfriend at the time. I go to therapy for this at least once a week, sometimes twice. I just got back from a session this AM. None of you can relate to the pain and anger I deal with on a daily basis, dont say you can, please, because you cant and if you say you can, I will laugh at you. Life, for me, at times IS hell. I am in no way gonna get into details here nor am I gonna give my diagnosis here on a blog. If you are curious enough, or care enough to know, drop me an email and I will openly tell you, in all honesty what I have been suffering from since I was young and how it all makes sense now. I will openly share my diagnosis with you there, but not on here, cool guys?

Yesterday, I once again fell short and did things I shouldnt have. Its hard for me to explain how or why it happened without you 1st knowing what my diagnosis consists from. If you are reading this Jen, you know exactly what point Im trying to get across, cuz you know all of me nowadays.

The bottom line is this...I am severely mentally ill to the point where on some days I cannot function as a normal person in society. If you want to know more, email me @ my hotmail address or my Gmail address and I shall check both over the next few days to see if you guys show up there. From there, I will fill you in on who I have become over the years........I would love to think I will not be judged for it. If I am, it will be the last time we shall ever speak, its that simple, it means that much to me. I have to protect myself.

Do, or do not email me, its up to you. All will be told in private so you can understand me better. If you choose to not email me, I aint gonna hold it against you, but you will just have to go through life trying to figure out why Im so fucked up in the dark.

I love you guys-----

Hi brothers, guess what? Im a fuck up.

I'm on the 714, cause I got a brand new jar,
Lemons put some light in my life, keep me happy through the night

I'm a lude boy, I don't care if I ever get home.

Getting ready to jump on the train, give me more to rack my brain.
Sudden alteration in my point of view, tables turn when I got the ludes.

I'm a lude boy, I don't care if I ever get home.

Its Tuesday, right?

---So, hows life treating you guys? Mines alright right now, just struggling with trying to keep clean to be honest with you all. I dunno why, But I am. Im using Ava as a constant reminder of what needs to be done right so I dont fuck up. Some people in life base success off of bullshit objects like money, or the status quo, I myself base it off of staying clean because I dont wanna fail anymore.

Its day 4 of rain and gloom and doom here. Its not cold YET. This afternoon a cold front is gonna usher its way in and bring with it winds that could be ripping up to 50 MPH and the low tonight is zero! Yeah, spring aint here by a long shot yet. Fucking zero...damnit!!!!

I hope you guys are all doing well. We should try to keep in touch on Facebook too, just keep the personal shit off there, cuz Im pretty sure we all pop on there at least once a day and its super easy to click on a brothers name to just say "Hey, Im good, hows things?"

Im gonna go OD on coffee, Ill catch ya later---

Shout out time.

---I wanna send a special BIRTHDAY shout out to Mr. Martin for his upcoming birthday tomorrow. I hope you get all the hook ups homeboy.

Love ya and miss ya man.---

Nothing special

--- Dont forget we spring our clocks forward an hour this weekend kids! Eh, what the hell, no big deal, we only lose an hour of sleep, damn farmers!

Day two of nice weather is here for the day but it all goes to shit tomorrow with rain and much cooler temps. Of course, the day when you want it to be nice, its not.

The Facebook addiction is beginning to wear off. Besides you guys, Im only sticking close to a handful of people on there and following their daily lives and posts.

I have therapy this AM and Im not in the mood to go, I dont wanna talk about my problems this week. Shit, ya want problems lady? Ill give ya damn problems, hah.

Ava is good, just growing like a weed. The ex takes possession of her new house on the 20th and she has yet a lot of packing to do. Im gonna get pulled into it, but its gonna come with a price tag this time. Charity is over, heh, kiddin! Im really excited to have her move though, Ava is gonna love it and thats all that matters to me. Im glad she has a screened in front porch, there will be some late nights shootin the breeze out there. Its all gonna be good. Im excited for them. She just started yet another venture in her life (like she really needs that) which is making vintage inspired hats out of left over pieces of vintage clothes that were too damaged to sell and other vintage items like feathers, nets and so on...shes a purist, she would never destroy a piece of vintage clothing to turn it into something else so she has scraps and tons of them. Shes made 3 hats so far and they are outrageous and kick ass. www.sugarlids.com check it out.

The girl has serious talent.

have a good one boys, love yas---

Spring forward

---So this weekend, we have to move our stupid clocks because of the stupid farmers up one hour, which means we lose an hours' sleep. It seems like it comes early this year doesnt it?

So, when do you guys think we will actually start to see Spring like temps. move into the region? Late this month or early April? Right now, its only 26 here, but its also only 835 in the AM. The high today is supposed to be 49.

Ive also noticed through certain friends from life (no, not you guys, I know you all too well) that while they are on FB they put their best foot forward and act as if married life ends with ice cream and puppy dogs and everything happily ever after which is a load of shit. NOTHING ever ends like that. I just found it interesting that people have to be perceived as winners, even on the damn interwebs.

Whew, Im fired up today, the World had best look out.

I love you guys though, Ive always found this blog a shelter from life's storms and I totally feel safe here being myself because I know I have been appreciated by you guys through the years. Thank you, really.---

Insanity rant...

---Good gosh gentlemen, Facebook has me sooooooooo addicted. I have found so many lost friends from HS and Grammar school, its amazing. Im so happy to be in touch w/ them again. With some of them, weve picked up from where we left off.

PJB, remember a certain red head I dated and you lusted after? Her and I have been talking a lot and its so cool!

But the main reason this rant must have some sanity in it is because just the other day Scott said now that I had signed up for Facebook not to forget about this blog.

It WILL NOT happen, no way. I may have met some old friends on FB, but you guys are my brothers, so there is no shot in hell Ill walk away from this great place of ours, rest assured.

Cool? I care too much about you guys to do that.---

The end of the month....one more mention!

---With the end of February being today I just wanted to say one more time how Scott's month long photo adventure and inspiration has, in my opinion, made this month the best month this blog has yet to ever see.

Thank you Scott for letting us inside your head and your life to see such killer forms of self expression. You get the award (hands down) for being the most creative Offmen to date ever on this blog.

You have inspired me to do something of the same coming up later on in the summer months, something that I would have never thought of without your pictures from February. Thanks bro.---

Just saying stuff...

---Hello boys, I havent actually wasted any of your time by blogging here in quite a while, so I figured what the heck. Scott, your pics are still rockin and its nice to have ya back PJB. It was also nice to see Steve and even Franko drop in for a line or three.

Nothing spectacular goes on here. Today its gonna be sunny w/ a high of 55. BUT, we has a sayin here in good ole Iowa, "If you dont like the weather just wait 5 mins. and it'll change". Tomorrow we go back to craptastic weather w/ rain, possibly freezing rain, then possibly a few inches of snow. Spring very well may be on the doorstep now, but old man winter aint gonna give in without a fight, he never does.

Ive just been up to the usual as of late, hanging w/ Ava and the ex. Helping her through a rough spot too. She got rejected for her first shot at her home loan from one lender, so shes gonna go directly through her bank now which had her preapproved to begin with so I dunno why she just didnt do that in the 1st place.

The winter (or my medication topped w/ my laziness) has caused me to put some pounds back on. Im back up to around 175-178ish. Doesnt make me super happy but as soon as the weather breaks, outdoor activities, including nightly walks around the area after dinner will be a must for me. And yes dangit, Im still a wuss and havent given up the smoking thing yet either, I just get soo freaked out when I think about no longer having that psychological crutch in my life. I mean I base it around so much. Getting nervous, I smoke. After a meal, I smoke. First thing in the AM and last thing of the day, yet again, yes, I smoke. Smoke, smoke, smoke.

Well, boys its nice to blog again, hope to get some replies soon, love yas.---

"Trade Show"

My trip to "Frost Bike" or
What I did on winter break,
by dad-e-O
Frostbike is a largish tradeshow, hosted by QBP, which is the largest distributer of most things bike in the industry. We were invited to attend by our sales rep, they picked up a bunch of the meals, and the room, as well as transportation. In addition to the actual show, there were a mess of meetings that we attended in order to learn more about the biz, processes, procedures, hints for success. That sort of thing.

Thursday AM we dropped Max off at school, took care of a few last minute errands, including picking up the camera (which we didn't use) and hit the road. We had already arranged to have one of the girls Tif works with to stay with the boys (and girls). Made arrangements for increased security at the shop, blah, blah.

Trip Highlights that you may find less then boring:
-Upon Check in, I was told that I was going to have a room mate, but it worked out, cause it was Tif.
-The room was nice, but with double beds, not being 22 anylonger, we pretty much slept like Fred and Wilma, in seperate beds.
-We had dinner at this cool place called the depot, which is a converted train station, the main room of which is an ice-rink, that they put flooring over in order to seat people, the dinner was lovely, but the entertainment was REALLY boring, I nodded off.
-We took a tour of the facility, it was fuckin huge, like mamoth. the organizational nightmare it must be to distribute that much stuff, is pretty amazing.
-At one of the meals, the "plastic forks" were actually made from potatoes.
-I drank enough beer over the few days, that on the way home, we stopped for Lunch/dinner at Outback, and I took a pass. (not on booze, just on beer, I had gin)
-We came home inspired to make more changes, and move more stuff in the shop.
-We bought tif a super cool wheels set, pretty colors, the money went to charity, the wheels go to us.

Otherwise you would pretty much have to be a bike geek to have any real interest in the goings on, even Tif had to pretend to be interested sometimes.
Thanks for listening

random thoughts

When any government, or church for that matter, undertakes to say to its subjects, this you may not read, this you must not see, this you are forbidden to know, the end result is tyranny and oppression, no matter how holy the motive.

Pics of the shop.

---Here are some various shots of my ex's shop and 1 or 2 of the little monster. No, shes not a monster at all, shes a rather good girl and she is my pride and joy and she is my life, without her smile, Id be a shell of a human, for reals. Anyways, You name it and if it's vintage Ang either sells it online or has it in her shop, which will also sometimes end up on her website too. The upper loft is where the lingerie and vintage bridal wear is, I think I included 1 decent shot of the vintage sexy wear, woohoo! Her shop isnt small per say, but she could use twice the room easy. She may move next year sometime, time itself will tell.

So yeah guys, this is where I spend my Saturday afternoons, keeping my eye on the kid while my ex works her vintage magic. Im also usually there on Weds. afternoons too, just hanging w/ the ex, her and I use the time to just hang and shoot the breeze. As you all obviously know, were divorced but we are still super tight for the sake of our daughter and Im a hopeless hard luck story who is still in love w/ her so I almost always enjoy the time. Shes open Wed-Fri, 10 AM-530 PM and Sat. 10 AM- 430 PM. Her website, which she built all by herself is pretty damn cool too. Shes not super HTML girl, but she knows enough code to rock a killer website.---

What a difference a day makes!

---Just yesterday at this time it was nearly 50 degrees and sunny. These two shots were just taken outside off the front stoop of my place. Snow is falling at a rate of about an inch an hour. Its quite beautiful actually. Its real light and fluffy too so clean up later should be super easy! You guys enjoy your weekend. I guess a portion of this storm is forecasted to hit you guys sometime early tomorrow AM. Enjoy.---

Small Talk.

---Well, I honestly dont wanna take away from Scott's great picture adventure here on the OMI blog for this month, so Ill try to keep this one short. Scott, your "28 days" project is the best thing this blog has yet to see. Period.

We are currently under the spell of a early Feb. heatwave and I hope it has hit you guys over there too! Weve been near or above 50, 55 degrees since this past Saturday and tomorrow its supposed to be 55 again, but by this week's end back down into the 30s where its supposed to be for this time of year. Im really starting to wonder if the big snowfall action is gonna pass us by for this winter! I checked an Iowa weather almanac online here and the most snow weve had on the ground here in Des Moines at once has only been around 5.5 inches this season. We can all say, being people from the Midwest that that aint shit, ya know? I figure if ya make it to the 2nd week of March or so, you can start to say youve made it through and the coast starts to look clear as far as no more major snow. Id like to think that we are done with the major arctic cold snaps for the season already. No more below zeros please.

I havent been up to much. Im gonna try to get some pics of the ex's shop tomorrow to post here later this week. She just admitted to me late last week that once she gets in the groove of her new home for a while and some other things get taken care of, shes gonna start to look for a new location for her shop or just go back to strictly online sales again since shed have space to store inventory and then some in her basement at her new digs. Thats how she got her start anyways, w/ the online thing and now she still does that even today on top of the actual shop.

My daughter is doing great, no bad news to report there. Shes become a little Nintendo Wii master, the little bugger, shes better than I am at most games.

Well, I guess Ill hit the sack. So much for a short email, sorry boys! Where are ya PJB? You OK?

Scott, please keep the awesome photos coming for the month!!!

Chat soon my brothers, love yas.---

Crazy Hair Day 2009

sorry about the crappy pic, but my good camera is at the shop so this is a cell phone pic

Crazy hair day keeps getting funner...
This time.
Max and I missed our cue, NBFD to him.
Jake on the other hand, a few days ago he decided to dye his hair red (it came out sorta pink..)for Spirit week with his swim team, and to make it crazier, he took some red hair goop, and made some liberty spikes. All by himself.

Whoops!

---Remember in an earlier post from this week when I said Id take my digi. cam. to the ex's shop and take pics in my own way for you guys to see? I dropped the ball. I forgot my camera here at home.

When it comes to everything except the kid, Im born to lose, and destined to fail. Nah, not really, Ill be there again this Saturday, if it isnt busy, Ill shoot some pics then!

Scott, your idea for the "28 days" thing is awesome, what made ya think that up? Thats pretty damn original, I likey!!!

Redecorate

As mentioned earlier, I have been doing a little shop decorating.

Here is a pic taken in our Kids Room in November, it shoes the changing rooms, that we were using to hold BMX bikes, during the summer we had tires in one.

here is a pic of the same spot different angle now it has assecories, parts and our trialers

Here is a pic of the west side of what we call the porch, it was where we had our Trailer display, and our Fit station, as well as some Parts & assesories on a couple of book shelves

Now it is all Parts and Assesoris, with a handle bar diplay, and our fit station

Ugh.

---Well, as much as I enjoy the winter season, I have all but fallen victim to cabin fever! I do get out once in a while. Therapy once a week and I see the kid a couple times a week to, usually on Wednesdays and Saturdays, but the rest of the time is spent with my nose usually in a book trying to ward off the evil spirit of the winter blues. This Iowa weather is even more fucked up. Today, for example, the high here will be 12, with temps. dumping down into dangerous wind chills by tonight. And by Friday its supposed to be 51 degrees! At least that will melt a lot of the ugly snow. We still havent gotten a major dumping on this winter yet, the most weve accumulated at once was around 5 inches. Its February, its still the dead of winter, I know it somewhere down in my bones that we are gonna get nailed to the wall with at least one big snow fall before its all said and done. We just have to...Im talking anything over 7 or 8 inches in one storm. Its gonna happen damnit.

That tiny little slice of a photo up by my ugly mug is clickable. It will show you a huge ass pic of my backyard, dying tree and all. You will also notice quite a few tire tracks and ruts back there. Thats where we usually park, on the back of the lot when there is no snow. I tried to park there last Sat. cuz it was like 45 here and totally forgot about overnight re-freeze, so when I came out the next morning my ride had sunk into 4 nice ice ruts. That was a blast to maneuver out of. We still wont be parking back there for a while yet.

Also one quick note...today marks the 50th anniversary of the deaths of Richie Valens, The Big Bopper and NONE OTHER than the great Buddy Holly. The actual plane crash site is about 3 1/2 hours from here in Iowa. Ive been listening to Buddy all morning, gotta pay respect to the man who influenced so many musicians of today, not only with his sound, but with his free spirit and his love for creating music. To skip out in life by not listening to Buddy would be a damn shame. He was a pioneer and had he lived on, there is no telling what kind of an even stronger influence he would have had on the musicians of today, well, a lot of the musicians I enjoy anyways, Id be willing to bet half of these new school bands have no idea of what they are missing out on.

RIP Buddy. Rave on.---

Blog snooping

---Hey PJB....I was just reading your shop blog and it does indeed seem like you have taken on quite the task of doing some decent work of remodeling some areas of the shop. I would love to see some pictures when you get the time.

What made ya dump out of the apparel aspect of the biz? Did it just not profit for ya? Ill assume that was the #1 reason. My ex went through a seriously dry period w/ jewelry like that, but it finally picked up, now shes doing all right in that area.

I think this week when I head over to her shop Im gonna take some pics of her digs my style and post 'em here later in the week so you guys can get a Tippy type look at her shop. Its pretty neat.

Yeah, I just got a kick ass new digi. cam. for Christmas, so I will do that actually. Look for pics later in the week if all goes well. I usually go over there on Wednesdays to chill.

As I have mentioned previously, the kid and I are OBSESSED w/ dinosaurs in a huge ass way. Last night her and I spent about an hour on the p.c. doing "research" on some certain dinos. The kid actually spelled some dino names correctly, more so than I! Shes gonna be something special. Its amazing to watch them grow. Either Im gonna go back to school for Paleontology or she will possibly end up there someday. Its a trip.

Ill get a pic or two of Ava also so you guys can see how much she has grown.

Look for a photo update late in this coming week!---

Born to lose

---So yeah right, you guys know I went ahead and kicked the terrible drug habit Ive managed to toss around in my life, back and forth for the past what felt like 20 years, right? OK, I think I have that licked, now Im totally addicted to those huge ass cans of cold coffee/energy drinks! Right now Im trying one made by Java Monster named Mean Bean. It tastes awesome, but will give ya quite the coffee buzz in the end. I used to just drink the Starbuck's ones, but Ive "branched out" now.

Not to mention these damn things are like 3.00 a pop! But for a 15 oz. coffee/power drink that aint that bad I guess.

They are so yummers, I cant stop drinking them!

P.S. Hey Pirate, get your ass out here on this blog and play with us!!!!---

Shes all growns up!

---OK, she isnt even my wife anymore, but I highly admire her work ethic and the way she treats our daughter is divine (and yeah, Im still in love with the broad). So, last Friday, I mentioned "the ex" put in a bid on a damn nice little cozy bungalow in a great neighborhood here in Des Moines? She got it.

It needs some new deco. and some fresh paint jobs but besides that, it all looks good. The house inspection is tomorrow.

Im just really damn HAPPY because now I know my daughter will grow up in a great area in a nice little, cozy home because her Mother kicks all ass.

Thank God for good moms, can I get an Amen?---

Mother fuck McAfee!!!

---So, as some of you may have known, I was recently on the hunt for some new anti-virus software. Well, McAfee had already come w/ my p.c. when I bought it, so they sent me a "You cant lose" deal once my initial free subscription had expired. Needless to say I bit. All was well, I was getting what I THOUGHT was an out standing product at a great annual price.

As soon as I downloaded it, things on the ole p.c. here started getting odd. Whenever I'd go to open my virus protection center it was nothing but a blank window. I uninstalled, reinstalled and emailed McAfee. Nothing fixed it and they never got back to me.

Then today, my Firefox browser took a shit. I am currently running Firefox in "safe mode" and even w/ that I still get several error boxes whenever I open a new browser window, something about "Chrome failure". I looked this up and did exactly what the Firefox website said to do to try to fix it and it did nothing to help.

THEN one of my Dell programs took a shit later today. Its a rather useful Dell program too, it can be used to detect when a new driver may be needed to install on your system, its basically a driver detective for Dell systems. Ive uninstalled this too, but am afraid as of now to try and reinstall it.

Im being childish and immature and blaming this all on McAfee. Ive emailed them and asked for a full refund. But to be 110% honest, NONE of this shit started to happen UNTIL I downloaded the new McAfee program. McAfee has been totally uninstalled from my system and I am currently running the free version of AVG's anti virus software. Ive used it before and never had problems with it being free. It runs a pretty deep scan and catches Trojans just like any other virus protection. I understand Trojans are the most common "viral" type problem around. It also has auto updates. When I get some green next month, Ill upgrade to their pro version for 40 bucks a year.

Sometimes, owning a p.c. sucks donkey pee pee---

Monday, January 26, 2009

My, um, well, work station. Yeah, thats it, sure.

---This is where my lazy ass sits when I am blogging to you guys! I dont know why, but I felt compelled to share it with you so you have a visualization of where Im at when blogging. Yeah, I know the desk is a mess, I dunno why but all the tiny shit in my room seems to gravitate to the desk!---

---EDIT. Since no one has commented on this yet, Ill assume no one has seen it yet. I wanna give a big shout of THANKS to my Home slice Scott for putting all those great OMI pics into an archived Picasa account. I have been looking at them and commenting on them on and off and it has been really, really great to jog down memory lane w/ some of those photos considering some of those pics are nearly 18 or 19 years old now! Thanks again Scott!!! Hopefully we can all add more as time goes on!---

I dont like Sundays!

---At least with the weekdays I have some structure around whats going on and what Im up to but I cannot STAND these lazy Sundays. I know for most of you this means little or nothing at all. PJB, youre at work during the day and Scott, I think on most weekends, you have an extra set of hands around the house which may give you a few simple hours here and there to chill and get other home tasks done. Like I said, this doesnt apply to all of us. Steve, you also may be at, or getting ready to go to work for the evening. I like my Sundays for sleeping in in some cases, even though in reality, it rarely does happen, especially when you are awoken to a fresh layer of snow like I was this AM (3 inches, no big deal, but enough to shovel and wipe off the cars). I rarely see Ava on Sundays because that is usually Ava and Mommy day which I totally respect. It is one of their more quiet days and Im not about to tread upon it even though once in a great while Ill get invited over, but no such luck today.

I at this moment sorta at least wish it was late Spring or even early Summer (as much as I dislike Summer) so I could sit outside w/ a choice beverage and read a book or something. Reading while stuck in my bedroom for the afternoon just doesnt have the same effect. There isnt much to do on the p.c. I could be emailing McAfee right now and rip them up one wall and down the other as to why my virus protection is seemingly not working right, but I really dont feel like it, even though I just extended my coverage with them.

Ah, lazy Sunday's, ya just cant get away from them sometimes. At least I have stuff shaking down this coming week.

Get back at me and have a good week gentlemen.---

One more thing guys.

This one is truly a gem. Id get this tattooed on my body somewhere if I could make it fit and still look good.---

"Great things are not accomplished by those who yield to trends and fads and popular opinion.” -Jack Kerouac

WORD.

Hello Peeps!

---Hi ladies (Hah, Im totally kiddin') I hope ya'll have a splendid weekend. Mine will be filled w/ arctic friggin air. The temp. here tomorrow is supposed to be 10 for the high, with the wind chills dippin' well below zero. Then we have snow dumping in on us Sunday night.

The heat is for shit at my ex's shop, so hopefully she'll close early tomorrow.

She just put in a bid on a really damn nice 2 bdrm. house today. She was pretty nervous, but I think shes got a good in. She'll know by around 10 tonight if she has it or not. I really hope she gets it. It would be great for my Ava, she would have a wonderful and safe backyard to play in. The house itself is wonderful, Ill be hanging around there a lot just to be the annoying ex who takes advantage of the others ex's new home. Nah, Im kidding, Id like to think Id be welcomed as usual.

Once again, have a good weekend guys, love yas---

Thursday, January 22, 2009

WOOHOO!

---Gonna be 45 here today!

Then back down into the 30s tomorrow and back way down to fucking 19 damn degrees by Saturday. Ah, Winter in the Midwest, gotta love it!

Whats up w/ you guys? Anything good?---

Virus Protection Advice

---Scott, Ill get back to you on the actor question, I gotta think about that one for a while, but thanks for the good on the spot question, I liked it.

OK, do any of you guys know a decent CHEAP or better yet, FREE virus protection program? My Mcafee plan that was nice and that came w/ my p.c. for free just ran out a few days ago and to repurchase it, it would run me 69 bucks a year! I also know that their best competition, Norton is a rip off because its not worth the price and it is a HUGE ASS memory hog.

I liked Mcafee, really, but 70 bucks a year?

Anyone know of a decent, cheap, or free virus protection program I can buy online??? Ive used AVG before and its free and does auto updates and everything and I never had any problems with it, but really, how good can it be?

Advice boys? Got some? Thanks, Ill check back later on...---

Here is the question

My wife posed to me at dinner Saturday night. If you could be any actor past or present who would it be? I love this cleaver out of nowhere shit she comes up with but it was late any thing past 8pm and I am pretty much useless. Coupled with a pint of Sam Adams and a wild mushroom pizza (the kids were at their Papa’s) I am amazed I found any sense to my self. At first I thought it must be any thing but Brad Pit, and so Forest Whitaker came to mind, I like him and my wife seemed pleased that I was thinking it might be a large black man. But my slush said he was not it and so I labored a bit longer. Then I thought who I really like is David Thewlis (aka Knox Harrington) but I couldn’t of the life of me think of his name, and so I began to think that maybe he was to obscure and over thought, so in the end I settled on Sir. Alec Guinness
. Now you know.
So give it up boys who would you be?

Just thinkin out loud

I know on which side of the fence I stand, is where my family lives, and I stand by the gate though many say not to; because I stubbornly believe in loving thy neighbor.

Winter sets in

---How goes it fellas? We got about 6 inches of the white fluff from Sunday night into Monday morning and now it is just friggin freezing. The high here today is like -2. Supposed to be "warmer" tomorrow, then back to single digits for Thursday. Whatever, it hasnt bothered me as of yet, well, not totally, I just hate trying to get in a car where both front doors have been wind blown and frozen shut. I just use a butter knife and run it around the part where the door meets the car and that knocks the ice loose and doesnt damage the door seal, but man, my car was very pissed off at being forced to start this AM, but she did after all.

I think the ex is gonna buy a condo and she wants all this input from me. Im not really for it so Ive just been nice and have been playing along. I dont wanna be the asshat who tells her that I think its a bad idea.

Along with my daughter's help. I have recently become obsessed with dinosaurs and Ive been doing a fair amount of studying on them so my kid cant one up me when we talk about them. She knows A LOT about them! Its almost frightening. I honestly, at times think that we may have a future paleontologist on our hands here, which is kinda exciting. She just turned 6 last week, but the kid is so far beyond the general comprehension and learning ability of a 6 year old.

Besides battling w/ Ava over dinosaurs, things have been more or less quiet here. Yesterday, I called an official "Snow day" for myself so I went out and shoveled early, then came in, dried off and put on sweat pants and did nothing the rest of the day. In fact, I was in bed by 8 last night. I feel very rested today and it feels great!

So, whats the haps w/ you guys? Hows the snow over there? Hows the biz PJB? I looked at all your pics you posted Scott and there are some great candid shots in there, your wife definitely has a feel for it.

So, whats up? Do tell.....---

Dear World:
The United States of America, your quality supplier of ideals of liberty and democracy, would like to apologize for its 2001 to 2008 service outage. The technical fault that led to this eight-year service interruption has been located, and the parts responsible for it were replaced Tuesday night, November 4. Early tests of the newly-installed equipment indicate that it is functioning correctly, and we expect it to be fully functional by mid-January. We apologize for any inconvenience caused by the outage, and we look forward to resuming full service - and hopefully even improving it in years to come.

Thank you for your patience and understanding.

Hip hip hurray! Hip hip hurray! Hip hip hurray!

Thank You Facebook!

(no subject)

Hey Scott,
I did get your letter and phone call, and Petes. I've been very busy. that's why I didn't respond for so long. sorry about that! I do like that on the OMI Blog site my picture is up there with the machete:) nice. I will talk to you soon and tell everyone I said "hi" and congrats to all you guys that got married also.
Joe.

They are officially over!

OK, now the "Holiday season" is officially done with until next winter. What would you rate your season as? Was it an A+, or did it have its down moments, earning it only a C or so? Its OK if it did, we are Offmen and we all have our faults, thats what makes us so unique! My Christmas was an A, my New Years was a C. I gots me in a lil argument in a quiet corner of her apartment w/ my ex and calmly walked over to my daughter, told her Dad wasnt feeling well and kissed her goodnight and walked outta there. I was home in bed by midnight!

Im glad its all over. Now we havta deal w/ the next few months of possible cabin fever with winter really having its chance of setting in. We have a tiny ice storm forecasted for Sat. here. Ive heard that the next few months the weather is supposed to be "balmy" as compared to frigid. Ill believe that b.s. when I feel it.

Enjoy 2009 boys. I know we will still have our kick ass blog to still frequent!

Another year gone yet again.

---Holy cow, tomorrow is New Year's eve. Do you suppose I can cram a whole year's worth of resolutions onto my to-do list and get them all done by tomorrow? Crap. It's not like I made these monumental resolutions or anything, like saving the beavers or teaching monkeys sign language. I know better than to promise myself to get things done in a year. Only thing I accomplished this year was wasting 365 consecutive days in a row to slacking, tomfoolery and indifferent bitching.

*Genuinely good and selfless deeds I have done in '08: That's hard to say. How can you measure a "good deed" and what exactly is the meaning of one anyway? Does not stabbing people count as a good deed? How about not running people over who are crossing at a stoplight? Do I get any karma points for that?

*People I have made a positive impact on in '08: Ahahahahaha, that's a good one. I'm sure I'm changing the world, what with my positive outlook on life and kind words. More like: "how many people have I pissed off, alienated and/or offended in '08". I'm sure you can remember my late Spring/Summer political tirades!

This time of year is so depressing and annoying because people reflect on their life over the past year, feeling like a horse's ass because they didn't do enough, make enough money, blah, blah. We'll never make enough money and we'll never be as complete and good and we think we should be, so why bother worrying about it now? Plus, people just suck and we never change, so stop your damn bitching about it. Does anyone actually make resolutions and stick to them? Who has, like goals and stuff? Don't you think it's just good enough making it day to day, relatively sane, somewhat happy, basically healthy, knowing that someone loves you and maybe even with a buck or 2 in your pocket? I think that's all it takes to make me feel content. Then again, Spongebob Squarepants makes me happy, so maybe I aim too low.

Out with 08, in with 09!!!

---So, this past year saw a ton of changes in the world, the biggest one I think was the election of our nation's first black President. Our personal home lives also had some huge changes too! In mid-January this blog will be 3 YEARS OLD already which is wonderful, it has turned out to be such a great outlet for all of us!!!

So, what are you guys gonna do for New Years Eve? Any big plans? Ya gonna be home bound or are ya gonna hit the town? Ill be at my ex's at her little get together.

What were some of the bigger changes you experienced in 2008? Mine would have to be finally getting lined up in a decent program to help me kick the bad "stuff" once and for all. That was a TREMENDOUS step for me and it paid off big time, it was like hittin the jack pot in Vegas or something close to that.

How 'bout you guys? What were your big life moments in 08?---

Post Holiday Wrap Up, hah, wrap up, get it, see what I did there? Hah.

---So, how was it? Your Christmas that is. I know that Scott had mentioned in a diff. post that his was quiet and very nice which sounds great. Ya gotta have those do nothing, stay at home holidays every so often just for sanity's sake.

How was yours PJB? What did the Barson clan do for the day?

What did you guys all end up getting???

Mine was relatively quiet. I gots me a brand new Kodak HD 14 megapixel digital camera, so as time goes on, Im sure youll be literally seeing my silly face on here more and more along with cool places and things around town where Im at. I had no damn idea a new digi cam. was in my future so it was a great suprize!

Later in the afternoon yesterday my Mom and I took a lil drive over to one of her friends house where we were invited to partake in their families Christmas dinner. The dinner itself was delicious. The main attraction was Mexican style strip steak. I had never had that before, let alone ever heard about it, but yep, Im a fan of it now. We had other traditional goodies there too like stuffing, a lil bit-o-turkey and green bean casserole to name a few things.

By time we got home last night around 6ish, I was friggin stuffed, so I laid low and watched TV before I crashed out around 830, 900 last night. I havent even begun to play with my new camera yet.

Tomorrow life will all but be back to normal for me. Ill be at the ex's shop hangin w/ the kid and then on Sunday afternoon, those 2 are coming over here so the 4 of us can do our Christmas together. Again, no idea what Im getting from the kid and the ex, but regardless it will be fun.

Today the temp. was unseasonably warm here, almost 50! It melted a ton of the snow pack on the ground and on the streets. I guess there are no major snow storms threatening this area on the map for the next 7 days!!! Be nice to get all this crappy looking snow melted away so when the next big storm hits (and I damn well know it will sooner than later) the snow will look fresh and beautiful again like when it 1st begins to fall.

The ex ordered a Nintendo Wii system today off of Amazon.com w/ the sports pack which I guess contains golf, bowling and a few other games. She also ordered the Wii fit pack which is the Wii workout system she is gonna give a try since its private in her own pad and she can do it any time shes free, instead of shelling out 50 or 60 bucks a month to a gym and then having to worry about when shell be able to get there and for how long. I think its a great idea actually.

The ex is also definitely going to have a small New Years Eve gathering, like 5 of us, including myself. Should be pretty fun. Im good friends w/ all the girls that will be there and they all adore Ava so it will be a nice, yet mellow way to ring in the new year without having to worry about being away from the kid. Were kinda both addicted to her, so being away from her kinda sucks, especially w/ a sitter who is not family that you cant put all your faith in.

Anyhow folk, thats my 2008 holiday wrap up. I hope yours was as nice as you wanted it to be and I hope even more that you layout some of the details to your holidays here on the blog.

Talk soon Kats.---

Oldie but a goodie

It's a little Long, but I laugh every time:
Snow
December 8
It started to snow. The first snow of the season and the wife and I took our cocktails and sat for hours by the window watching the huge soft flakes drift down from heaven. It looked like a Grandma Moses print. So romantic we felt like newlyweds again. I love snow!

December 9
We woke to a beautiful blanket of crystal white snow covering every inch of the landscape. What a fantastic sight! Can there be a more lovely place in the whole world? Moving here was the best idea I've ever had! Shoveled for the first time in years and felt like a boy again. I did both our driveway and the sidewalks. This afternoon the snowplow came along and covered up the sidewalks and closed in the driveway, so I got to shovel again. What a perfect life!

December 12
The sun has melted all our lovely snow. Such a disappointment! My neighbor tells me not to worry - we'll definitely have a white Christmas. No snow on Christmas would be awful! Bob says we'll have so much snow by the end of winter, that I'll never want to see snow again. I don't think that's possible. Bob is such a nice man. I'm glad he's our neighbor.

December 14
Snow, lovely snow! 8 inches last night. The temperature dropped to -20. The cold makes everything sparkle so. The wind took my breath away, but I warmed up by shoveling the driveway and sidewalks. This is the life! The snowplow came back this afternoon and buried everything again. I didn't realize I would have to do quite this much shoveling, but I'll certainly get back in shape this way. I wish I wouldn't huff and puff so.

December 15
20 inches forecast. Sold my van and bought a 4x4 Blazer. Bought snow tires for the wife's car and 2 extra shovels. Stocked the freezer. The wife wants a wood stove in case the electricity goes out. I think that's silly. We aren't in Alaska , after all.

December 16
Ice storm this morning. Fell on my ass on the ice in the driveway putting down salt. Hurt like hell. The wife laughed for an hour, which I think was very cruel.

December 17
Still way below freezing. Roads are too icy to go anywhere. Electricity was off for 5 hours. I had to pile the blankets on to stay warm. Nothing to do but stare at the wife and try not to irritate her. Guess I should've bought a wood stove, but won't admit it to her. I hate it when she's right. I can't believe I'm freezing to death in my own living room.

December 20
Electricity is back on, but had another 14 inches of the damn stuff last night. More shoveling! Took all day. The damn snowplow came by twice. Tried to find a neighbor kid to shovel, but they said they're too busy playing hockey. I think they're lying. Called the only hardware store around to see about buying a snow blower and they're out. Might have
another shipment in March. I think they're lying. Bob says I have to shovel or the city will have it done and bill me. I think he's lying.

December 22
Bob was right about a white Christmas because 13 more inches of the white shit fell today, and it's so cold, it probably won't melt till August. Took me 45 minutes to get all dressed up to go out to shovel and then I had to piss. By the time I got undressed, pissed and dressed again. I was too tired to shovel. Tried to hire Bob who has a plow on his truck for the rest of the winter, but he says he's too busy. I think the asshole is lying.

December 23
Only 2 inches of snow today. And it warmed up to 0. The wife wanted me to decorate the front of the house this morning. What is she, nuts?!! Why didn't she tell me to do that a month ago? She says she did but I think she's lying.

December 24
6 inches - Snow packed so hard by snowplow, I broke the shovel. Thought I was having a heart attack. If I ever catch the son of a bitch who drives that snow plow, I'll drag him through the snow by his balls and beat him to death with my broken shovel. I know he hides around the corner and waits for me to finish shoveling and then he comes down the street at a 100 miles an hour and throws snow all over where I've just been! Tonight the wife wanted me to sing Christmas carols with her and open our presents, but I was too busy watching for the damn snowplow.

December 25
Merry f#%&ing Christmas! 20 more inches of the damn slop tonight - Snowed in the idea of shoveling makes my blood boil. I hate the snow! Then the snowplow driver came by asking for a donation and I hit him over the head with my shovel. The wife says I have a bad attitude. I think she's a fricking idiot. If I have to watch "It's A Wonderful Life" one more time, I'm going to stuff her into the microwave.

December 26
Still snowed in. Why the hell did I ever move here? It was all HER idea. She's really getting on my nerves.

December 27
Temperature dropped to -30 and the pipes froze; plumber came after 14 hours of waiting for him, he only charged me $1,400 to replace all my pipes.

December 28
Warmed up to above -20. Still snowed in. The BITCH is driving me crazy!!!

December 29
10 more inches. Bob says I have to shovel the roof or it could cave in. That's the silliest thing I ever heard. How dumb does he think I am?

December 30
Roof caved in. I beat up the snow plow driver, and now he is suing me for a million dollars, not only for the beating I gave him, but also for trying to shove the broken snow shovel up his ass. The wife went home to her mother. Nine more inches predicted.

December 31
I set fire to what's left of the house. No more shoveling.

January 8
Feel so good. I just love those little white pills they keep giving me. Why am I tied to the bed?

I guess that the late thirties is the facial hair era. nice beards guys.

This 'n That

I was recently laying on the floor, trying to strech my back a bit (I strained it shoveling snow a few days ago) and my cell phone jabbed me in the leg, so I started messing around with it. I took a picture and figured out how to e-mail it to my self, and since we were talking about beards and hair lines, it kind of fit in.Mostly gray, but my beard comes in redish (now with spots of grey) I don't remember the last time I sat in the barber chair, but it's been a while. Fairly well defined "Widows Peak".
Life is fairly calm around here, the boys are on Winter break, Tif and I are planning a vaca. The shop is pretty slow, compared to June, but steady compared to Nov.
Have a Merry Holiday boys.

Sunday Morning post!

---Well, my fine lads, before things may get a little crazy for you since this is the week of Christmas and you may get sucked into last second gift buying or even worse, the mad dash for the grocery store, I wanted to take a few mins. to wish each and all of you a VERY Merry Christmas.

Man homeboys, the damn years are just flying by, arent they? Its crazy! My daughter will be 6 on Jan. 7th. 6 already!!!

I dont have much going on this week, my Mom and I will be here alone for the holiday. I am really missing Den right around these times because he LOVED Christmas. Not only because of its spiritual significance, but the joy of gift giving and acting like a big kid was also a holiday specialty of his. I just cant get into that frame of mind with him gone, I dont know where to start.

My ex is indeed having a small quiet get together on New Years Eve so that'll be cool. Ill be the only guy there mind you, but eh, no big thing.

Well my brothers, get back at me when ya get time this week, lemme know whats up w/ your Christmas, cool?---

Who's afraid of the Big Bad Wolf?

We have two or three versions of this classic tail laying around our house. The one I like the best is the one where the first two pigs get eaten by the wolf after he blows their houses down (because pig is his favorite food), only to be eaten him self by the third little pig (because wolf is his favorite food). Our other favorite version is a Disney golden book with a more gentle approach, but a very well drawn and scary looking wolf. This is the book C is afraid of. well we have read it more than once so thought it about time we should find that old animation on the web. Pamela who happened to be tooling around with our camera caught the moment for us... great shot P!

Its not letting up!

---So tomorrow, we are supposed to get hit w/ an ice storm (1/4 inch of ice, too much for me), sleet, then snowfall totaling 3 inches. Ole man Winter isnt even officially in here until next week and he wont let up already! The snow? Thats all good, dont mind it at all, but the ice? Fuck that shit, no thanks, I always get freaked out we are gonna lose power and heat!

Helped the kid decorate Christmas cookies tonight at the ex's digs, it was messy and fun. I wont get to do Christmas w/ my Ava until after Christmas itself, she'll be outta town on the actual holiday. Im used to that though. Christmas Eve I think Ill take me Mum out to dinner, then on Christmas day, we are gonna have her trademark Lasagna.

Im still clueless as to what Im getting from anyone, its rather exciting.

My Social D. bootleg inventory is now up to 38! Woot! Woot!

Been pretty frigid here the past few days, its been long underwear weather by far!

I hope you guys are all geared up for the Holidays, hows that goin on your end guys?

New Years will be spent with the ex and Ava. I dont drink (really, not much anyways) and the ex will knock back a few barley pops, so it will be a quiet night. The ex may have a few people over too which would rock. Ava usually spends 4 or 5 nights ahead of time cutting out and making her own "home made" confetti for New Years. Shes allowed to stay up as late as she can muster that night, but shes usually out on the couch by 10, 1030, then I carry her to bed.

Whats about you guyses? New Years plans? Any? None? Too many?

I saw this rather pudgy looking, kinda small bottle of clear tequila at the store the other day. 40 damn dollars! Thats insane, but at the same time, damn I bet its yummy with salt lick and a lime chaser. No way am I gonna drop 40 bones on a bottle though. No damn way.

Well boyos, thats about it here, shout back when ya can, OK?---

This and that.

---Freezing ass cold out and the snow is coming down in a big way. Been sittin here burning certain things I have to disc as of late.

Hey Scott, I didnt realize you had to have a membership to Facebook in order to browse other profiles. I know its free and all, but I dont really wanna get started with that. Believe it or not, there are people I am still hiding from in my past, heh. I appreciate the invite though, Im glad you thought of me, but its just not my bag.

Gosh, Id cut someones heart out for a good show to come through town about now. Last week, The Rev. came through but I passed, seen him like 5 times, his psychobilly fans are annoying as hell and I had no one to go with. Social D. isnt gonna have a new album out 'til prolly the ending quarter of 09, so if they are gonna come through here it wont be until '10.

Im addicted to Ricola cough drops.

You guys ready for Christmas at all? My Mom and I will be here, alone for the holiday, we'll adapt though, we usually do.

Where are you guys going?---

---Holy crap is it cold out!!!!

Thats all, carry on.---

1,564 and counting

---Thats how many posts our blog has had. Impressive! And to think, this blog is getting in the neighborhood of its 3rd Birthday already! Damn, where did all that time go?

It was nice here yesterday, about 45, sunny and it was even nice when I got up this morning at 8, but out of nowheresville the sky went gray and it got damn chilly. I guess the high temp. here for the next couple of days is like 13.

Well, I got all the holiday shopping done this past Friday. Some was done here, some was done online. I have NO damn clue as to what Im getting from anyone this year, Im kinda excited about that.

Ive been looking around the interwebs for a t shirt that just says "Old School" on it and I have had no luck. I was gonna use Cafe Press and design my own, but I cant even find an image that just says Old School.

Hows things there? Business slow down PJB? Hows the wee little girl Scott? I finally have come to the realization that my tummy can no longer sustain fully caffeinated coffee. Ugh, I had 2 1/2 cups this AM and it felt like gut rot after about a half hour. I think Im gonna have to go with a 50/50 blend from now on. Has that happened to any of you at all? Its weird, I can drink iced tea, which has more caffeine than coffee without any troubles, but the coffee, oh man, it wrecks me. Lately all I have been drinking is Gatoraide. Not because its a healthy, so called thirst quencher, but there are quite a few flavors I enjoy.

So, whats up?---

The turkey and the bull.

A turkey was chatting with a bull. "I would love to be able to get tot the top of that tree" sighed the turkey, "but I haven't got the energy.
"

"Well why don't you nibble on some of my droppings?" the bull replied. "They are packed with nutrients.
"

The turkey pecked at a lump of poo and found it actually gave him enough strength to reach the lowest branch of the tree. The next day, after eating some more poo, he reached the second branch.

Finally after a fourth night, the turkey was proudly perched at the top of the tree. He was promptly spotted by a farmer and was shot down.

Moral of the story:
Bull shit might get you to the top, but it won't keep you there.

...Lets see here...

---First off, glad youre home safe and sound PJB. Did you have a good trip?

Sorry I have been so bloggeriffic as of late but Ive had a lot of time wasting thoughts enter my mind and I enjoy sharing them w/ you guyses.

Are any one of you in the holiday/Christmas spirit as of yet? I do not think I am. Its weird, our neighborhood is decorated quite nicely but it still pretty much has no effect on me. The holiday TV commercials dont do it, even some of the holiday goodies I have already eaten havent done it. With me, I know it is because, as odd as it sounds, its simply because I still miss Den, even around this time of year more so. I thought this whole process was supposed to get easier?

How come as kids, heat nor cold bothered us, now it kicks our asses. Well, it does mine. I was just out a few mins. ago having a stupid ass ciggy and realized shit, its friggin freezin' out here, screw this, Im goin back in. When we were younger, it could be 20 below and we'd be at the local sledding hill with our shirts off, sledding like idiots.

Anybody catching my drift here?---

Monday, December 08, 2008

Is it just here or......

---Does it just happen here or do the weather forecasters there over hype possible upcoming storms too? An example. Just this past Sat. our local weather people here were saying the snow storm we are due for over night here into tomorrow AM was gonna be a doozy! Then Sunday they still said we were gonna get nailed, but not quite as bad, then tonight on the news at 5, it turns out we are due for 1-2 inches tomorrow morning!

I can understand that weather fronts move and push and pull and can change drastically, so then why dont these weather goofs just wait til time gets closer to make a "prediction"? Yeah, thats right, thats all they do to make 6 figures a year is predict things in the air.

I know most of you guys arent big TV buffs, but maybe you catch some local news now and again. Do they pull that shit there too? Im just wondering...---

Um, I dunno

---Well, my ex's holiday fashion show/holiday party went off like a blast, it was fun and the models looked great. I was up til about 230 AM hangin at my ex's w/ a true old schooler, a super nice friend of hers, Suzanne was her name, talked about seeing The Ramones back in the late 70s at CBGBs and shit. Wow. I talked to her for over an hour about music alone, super cool kitten. She said if I was in my early 40s, she would have totally jumped me, then dated me, hehe....

We are due for another nailing of snow tomorrow night into Tues. Old man winter is makin his rounds. Bet you guys get it Weds.

So, what kind of gifts ya buying the ladies this year??? Scott? PJB? Any others?

Im still addicted to nicotine. This makes me sad.---

Early Holiday Bash!

---Well, tomorrow night my ex will host her shop's holiday closed to the public, invite only, hot to trot party. Shes been in planning for this one for a while and Im going in my Mike Ness Gangster best (Black pin stripped pants, black button up long sleeve dress shirt and white tie w/ greased back hair). Shes not sure whos gonna show up but that doesnt mean much to me. One word does though- MODELS!!!! About 8 or 10 of 'em, usually pretty hot.

Kids will be there, munchies will be eaten, beer will be drank, but not by me, somebody has to keep a level head on. And hopefully, the ex will make a killing!

So, who else here has to host or go to a holiday party this month???---

From Childhood

I am getting a little old to be giggling over Cartoons so often, but this one still really cracks me up! I let Colin watch it with me but I am not sure he understood it... likely for the better.

Strange Contrails?

As seen from my family room window looking north mid morning. Just thought I would share my little "hey that looks kind of strange" moment.

MORE white stuff

---Well, we are gettin hit w/ an additional 5-6 inches of the white fluff today. Its very pretty. As you all know, I love winter time, however, after about the 5th or 6th time we get dumped on like this I start to get restless. I hope this winter is not like last winter where it seemed like it snowed every other day from November 1st onward. But so far, I love it, its very tranquil and peaceful. Its kinda nice when youre stuck inside because of a nasty snow fall. The damn wind here today is brutal, that is what is keeping me in.

I need to start thinking about Christmas shopping.

How have you guys been? Its been nice to see all of you pop on to the blog for a sentence or two here and there, Ive enjoyed it. Nothing all too special is goin down here. My Mom is feeling a lot better than she was a few days ago, for that I am thankful. Ive recently slept walked for the 1st time since I was like 12 or 13! Nothing too memorable came to be, but my Mom thought it was, um, interesting to say the least. They say that that shit can happen when you are on a sleep aid like Ambien or Lunesta. Ive been taking Lunesta now for over a year. The shit works, but some of the side effects are tripped out!

Hope you are all well. Get back at me when you get a few.---

hope everyone had a nice holiday

mine was spent with the family. we had Julia's dad out for the week and I had an unusual four days off (mon-thurs), and then got to work three doubles in a row. well at least we were really busy so I rarely had time to eat. turkey day was spent at home and at the community feast in this wonderful small town that i live in. there must of been fifty people and plenty of food. there was live music played by some very talented locals. which was topped off with the fiddle/ harmonica duo playing "punk rock girl" around the campfire. peace

Before and After

Well it has been a busy one at our house for some time now. We hosted Thanks Giving again this year, and once again our to-do list as before was way to long. But we did it we finally finish painting the kitchen which was our largest most ambitious job. The difference is rather dramatic. So now you know what I have been up to and if you look closely you can even see where I sit when I have time to go on line. Hope all of you had an enjoyable holiday. I am looking forward to a quiet Christmas at my sisters!

Yep, the white stuff.

---Well, we here in Des Moines got our first measurable hit of snow this past weekend, like 3-4 inches. It was pretty easy to deal with. I shoveled our walk up to the door and tomorrow its gonna be 45, so Ill let the warmer temps do the rest.

My Mom is wayyyy sick, I feel really bad for her. Shes terribly weak, so I stick close to home so I can keep an eye on her cuz she doesnt know when to quit, crazy lady!

So my ex hid 2 of Ava's Christmas presents in the backroom at the shop. Way in the back, pretty well hidden away. Well guess what? On Sat. the kid comes out of the back room holding one of them while she talked about the other one being too heavy to move! Hah, Mama got busted. Smart assed kid findin stuff. We both laughed about it in the end but the ex was kinda mad at herself first. Right now the kid is OBSESSED w/ dinosaurs, so one of the gifts was dino related and the second gift was a play kitchen set that looks kick ass on the box. Dang little stinker

Kids, I tell ya......---

Insanity

---So, some poor Wal Mart employee gets fucking trampled to death when one of its stores opened it's doors at 5 friggin AM this past Friday morning. On top of that, a mother to be was also brought down in the madness. Her baby shall be alright and Im certain she will be too, thank God.

But WTF! Thats all I can say, I cant wrap my mind around this madness, WTF!---

Black Friday

---Alright, so how many of you gained an extra pound or two from yesterday? I did pig out, but not as bad as I wanted to, Ive been battling some under the weather blues for a few days now and that kinda hampered the gorge fest I had originally planned.

I sure as hell didnt go shoppin' at 5 AM this morning, but my Mom was out there in the mix by 6! Friggin crazy!

So, our tree and stuff is all up, who here is breakin' out the decorations this weekend? Anyone?

I hope you ALL had great Turkey Days and ya got to eat all ya wanted. Now the real chaos of the holidays start w/ shoppin' and all that fun stuff.

Have a good weekend boys, chit chat again soon.....---

Turkey Day/Black Thursday/Thanksgiving

---With another year beginning to start to draw to a close, this Thanksgiving, as I pig out on bird and all the fixins, I can say with 100% that, for yet another year, I am blessed to call you all my brothers.

Have a great Thanksgiving fuckers.---

Sheesh.

---Its way too cold way too early in the season. I need a nice shot of Whiskey to warm me up...Nah, Im kidding, no booze here.

Are you guys freezin ass cold there too? I think we are supposed to get snow over the weekend.

So, what are you boys doing for Thanksgiving? Something huge and monumental, or are you just staying home and keeping the get together small? My Mom and I are going over to a friends house for dinner, should be a fuckin blast, lemme tell ya.

Social D. is touring this coming Jan-March w/ Motorhead at some tattoo festival, pretty interesting. They have Chicago listed as a stop on the road, so we'll havta see where Im at before I make any decisions about going. Fuckin bastards need to knock it off and get into the studio and lay out a new album, but then again, touring is where you make all your serious $$$ as a musician. I know a few people through some of the message boards I go to that know Mike pretty well and Mike doesnt wanna do this forever now that he has 2 kids and a lovely wife.

Get back at me boys---

From the Mouths

So my older son is here at the shop and we are playing sort of an informal name that tune. It's a long running game: when a new song comes on, someone spouts off with as much information about the song as possible.
It's starting to slow down at the shop so I have been playing "My" music from my laptop's I-tunes.
and Son#1 says "Dad, thanks for introducing me to the cool music you listen to" he's going to be 12 this week.
That's it, I just thought it was cool, and I wanted to share.

Randomness

Did you notice that at the top of our little blog there is a little button "Next Blog"
It was brought to my attention when I visited Mark M Rag, so I clicked it, and was brought to a blog in Japanese, another click, Spanish, another click, English. I was clicking and scanning for longer then I'd like to admit. Sometimes you have to hit back on your browser in order to get to a new blog, because, not everyone has that little "Next Blog" tag.
If you have some time, check it out, it's kinda fun, random stuff.

Life happens pretty fast....

---and if you dont stop every once in a while to look around, you might just miss it. Anyhow folk, over about the past 18 months or so, I have been playing email tag with a fellow Offmen, Mike Thumm and it has somewhat taught me a few things about friendships. First, its that nothing, time nor space will come between you and a dear pally, thats why I can say Im still tight w/ most of you here. Secondly, a short email from an old friend does wonders for the spirit when youre feelin down and last but not least, it puts things in perspective. Well, for me it has.

It has helped me to see that if I cant take 3 mere mins. out of my daily life every once in a while to send an email to an old pally that just says "Hey",there could be something wrong in my life. Am I runnin too fast, on "the go" too much or have I believed myself when Ive filled my own head full of shit and told myself that Ive out grown certain things.

True friends are for life. Period.

I love gettin email from Thummy it is always a bright spot to my day and it has taught me to slow down and take the time to reply to him and in most cases, come up with a little something to add to our little blog here.

MAKE time for YOURSELF every day if you can boys. Stop what youre doin and just sit or stand there and look around and never forget some of the special people that directly or indirectly may have helped to get ya to where you are in life, especially when it comes to fellow OMI members

At one time in the distant past, we were a strong brotherhood. Once in a while try to grab onto nostalgia again and drop a brother an email or swing over here to the blog and pound out a short little message as to what youre up to and so on.---

Here comes Monday...again!

---Hi boys, hows life? Its way too cold here way to early in the "winter" season (even though winter itself doesnt begin for a while)for me to like. Its like 20 degrees here right now. At least I know my grass cutting days are done until next April or so.

Im very anxious to see who Pres.-elect Obama will hire to his cabinet. I actually found a great website called change.gov that allows the user to have somewhat of a direct interface with The President which is also another first in this great nation. For example, you can go to the site and "tell your story" about something that is bothering you in the US and Obama is going to hire an entire staff to monitor the site, read your emails and pass them on in the chain as they see fit. To me, that is fucking awesome. Ive already written a couple of emails w/ hopes of them reaching somewhere near the Oval Office. People have bitched and bitched about wanting "change" in America and now that we have it, I am totally gonna use it w/ very high hopes...it cant hurt, ya know?

My ex sis in law has disappeared again, it doesnt come as a shock to me, I just friggin hate seeing my ex all upset over it. She (my ex sis in law)has let her life become consumed by drugs, nothing more, nothing less, trust me, Ive been there. She has nothing to live for. Both her kids were taken by the State. Her son lives w/ his Dad and her 16 yr. old daughter is one fuck up away from juvenile detention until shes 18. Good Lord.

My daughter is doing GREAT! She read one of her little books to me this past weekend and I only had to help like once or twice. Yeah, yeah, I friggin cried, wanna make something of it? =)

Hey Scott, hows your little wee one doing?

Well brothers, I wont keep ya, I just had an itchy typing finger or two, so I thought Id pound out a quick update to ya'll

Get back at me guys.---

We did it again.

---Now that the emotional high is starting to slowly wear off of me from last night's victory, I sit here and think that the rest of the World must be thinking "There goes the US, they did it yet again." We shocked the World last night by electing a black President, something, at one point in my life I thought Id never see, let alone my Ava.

Time will tell. Barack will be tested BIG TIME. The World will indeed be watching him, some at close range. We still have time to celebrate for a bit and watch (and pray) that he puts together a decent cabinet. But, we did it again, we made history once more, giving me, on a personal level,a reason to be even more pride filled with this nation than I was say 3 nights ago.

Today I was outside of my ex's shop having a ciggy and my friend Anthony, who is black came out of his apartment which is above my ex's digs and bummed a smokey and asked about what I thought of the election. Tears welled up in both our eyes. We couldnt say anything, we just shook hands and hugged. Anthony then said "It isnt about our colors now Eric" and for the first honest and open time it wasnt. Obama helped him and I to come together as human beings first, but also as Americans. Ill admit, before my Ava was born into this World I had developed some racist habits. Id throw around the word nigger or spic like it was nothing. But remember parents out there...having a child changes everything.

It isnt about color to me now, its about change. Lets all hope President elect Obama can unify this nation as ONE during his term. Lets hope he can get our troops home in 16 months like he wants to, while the Iraqi Govt. sits on a huge surplus of money. Lets hope he can turn our economy around. Lets hope he creates jobs. Lets hope that he gives more fair and equal benefits to the mentally ill, like me.

He will be tested. Lets hope that the change we need has finally come and we can put Bush politics to bed for good.

Im not going to "claim" to be affiliated w/ any political party anymore. Im for the party of hope, of independence and of freedom. Obama taught me that that is OK. The GOP is dead. It is so full of hate it made me ill. I tip my hat to Sen. McCain though for a great run at the prize. Sarah Palin? Thats a whole nother story and Im trying to be nice here.

Good luck Mr. President elect Sir. Now is your time to prove you can shine!---
I know these are difficult times for America. But I also know that we have faced difficult times before. The American story has never been about things coming easy - it's been about rising to the moment when the moment was hard. It's about rejecting fear and division for unity of purpose. That's how we've overcome war and depression. That's how we've won great struggles for civil rights and women's rights and workers' rights. And that's how we'll emerge from this crisis stronger and more prosperous than we were before - as one nation; as one people.

-Senator Barack Obama, - October 30, 2008

---Excuse me thats now President elect Barack Obama.---

President Obama

---Ill admit it, I cried a little. I cannot even begin to imagine what it would feel like to be African American right now. His speech was amazing and I truly believe he will bring great change to this nation. The sky is the limit for the US, if only the hard nosed bastards (like I used to be) of the Repub. Party cooperate.

Hell, even seeing Jesse Jackson in tears fucked with me.

Obama's speech was absolutely perfect and delivered with great passion and precision. I feel as if this country has been reborn again and maybe this nation will get some real shit done. Im counting the seconds until Bush gets his ass evicted from The White House.

This is our RFK....our MLK......our champion. I cant wait until Jan. to see what this bad ass has in store for this nation.---

Code of silence broken on Election day??? Well sort of maybe just for today.

Just wanted you all to know that today was my fifth presidential election to participate in, and looking back at my track record it appears I have been very consistent. I have consistently voted four times in a row now for one of the losers, maybe the fifth time is the charm? Well I hope all of you are having a great day and I hope I didn’t spoil your vote for your favorite candidate by voting for them.

No Politics here!

Thought I would make with a post about life around here that was Politics free.
lessee.
Tif and I just signed up to do the Hustle up the Hancock. That's a run, up the stairs of the Hancock building in Chicago, we have a little training to do....
Helloween was fun, we gave away like over 1,000 pieces of candy. Jake was Angus Young (of AC/DC) Max was Indiana Jones, Tif was Mother Nature, Dad was a drunken Idiot. Something different this year, when the boys got home I offered them $10 for their candy, "What are you gonna do with it" they asked, "It doesn't matter" I said. "Why do you want to pay me for it" they asked. "Because it's worth the money to know you don't eat it I said"
Only one boy took me up on it.
Business is starting to slow down a bit. which is giving me time to take carre of some of the odd jobs around the shop. we are knocking down some walls, adding some store fixtures and building bikes for next year, we also need to figure out where to keep said bikes.
It looks like Tif is going to go to Bike Geek School, like I did last year.
I think thats about it...

talk at you cats later.

Take the day off!

---Pretty cool to see a classic character make a comeback huh?---

Yes we can......

Cheers and Jeers: Thank you so much, Senator, for sitting down with us today. I know Daily Kos readers are eager to hear more details about the issues that affect them. First, let me just get a sense of tomorrow's election. Can we really win this thing?
Barack Obama: Yes we can!
One thing you've talked a lot about on the stump is agriculture. Do you ever grow your own vegetables and preserve them?
Yes. We can.
Will you fire the incompetent cronies that populated the Bush administration for the last eight years after you take office in January?
Yes. We'll can.
On a lighter note, you and Michele both danced separately on The Ellen DeGeneres Show. Do you ever dance together?
Yes, we cancan.
Is there anything in particular that'll keep Sasha and Malia occupied when you're trying to concentrate in the Oval Office? I mean, besides sending them upstairs to do their homework?
Yes. Wii can.
I'm a little nervous. May I take a potty break?
Yes. Pee, man!
[Three minutes later...]
I have an email here from the Abominable Snowman: "Senator Obama, can you redouble America's efforts to protect our wilderness areas?"
Yeti, we can!
If you could create the new bumper sticker slogan for your opponent, what would it say?
"Yes We Can't!"
Do you have a favorite film festival you like to follow?
Yes! Oui! Cannes!
What do you say to your detractors in the media, who say you can't be an effective president because of all the crises facing the country?
Press, we can!
You and the family seem to enjoy spending time at the beach. Is that true?
Yes. We clam.
Here we are, less than 24 hours before the polls open. What will be going through your mind when your head hits the pillow the night you learn you're the 44th President of the United States?
Yessssssss! We ran!
