Another year gone yet again.

---Holy cow, tomorrow is New Year's eve. Do you suppose I can cram a whole year's worth of resolutions onto my to-do list and get them all done by tomorrow? Crap. It's not like I made these monumental resolutions or anything, like saving the beavers or teaching monkeys sign language. I know better than to promise myself to get things done in a year. Only thing I accomplished this year was wasting 365 consecutive days in a row to slacking, tomfoolery and indifferent bitching.

*Genuinely good and selfless deeds I have done in '08: That's hard to say. How can you measure a "good deed" and what exactly is the meaning of one anyway? Does not stabbing people count as a good deed? How about not running people over who are crossing at a stoplight? Do I get any karma points for that?

*People I have made a positive impact on in '08: Ahahahahaha, that's a good one. I'm sure I'm changing the world, what with my positive outlook on life and kind words. More like: "how many people have I pissed off, alienated and/or offended in '08". I'm sure you can remember my late Spring/Summer political tirades!

This time of year is so depressing and annoying because people reflect on their life over the past year, feeling like a horse's ass because they didn't do enough, make enough money, blah, blah. We'll never make enough money and we'll never be as complete and good and we think we should be, so why bother worrying about it now? Plus, people just suck and we never change, so stop your damn bitching about it. Does anyone actually make resolutions and stick to them? Who has, like goals and stuff? Don't you think it's just good enough making it day to day, relatively sane, somewhat happy, basically healthy, knowing that someone loves you and maybe even with a buck or 2 in your pocket? I think that's all it takes to make me feel content. Then again, Spongebob Squarepants makes me happy, so maybe I aim too low.

Out with 08, in with 09!!!

---So, this past year saw a ton of changes in the world, the biggest one I think was the election of our nation's first black President. Our personal home lives also had some huge changes too! In mid-January this blog will be 3 YEARS OLD already which is wonderful, it has turned out to be such a great outlet for all of us!!!

So, what are you guys gonna do for New Years Eve? Any big plans? Ya gonna be home bound or are ya gonna hit the town? Ill be at my ex's at her little get together.

What were some of the bigger changes you experienced in 2008? Mine would have to be finally getting lined up in a decent program to help me kick the bad "stuff" once and for all. That was a TREMENDOUS step for me and it paid off big time, it was like hittin the jack pot in Vegas or something close to that.

How 'bout you guys? What were your big life moments in 08?---

Post Holiday Wrap Up, hah, wrap up, get it, see what I did there? Hah.

---So, how was it? Your Christmas that is. I know that Scott had mentioned in a diff. post that his was quiet and very nice which sounds great. Ya gotta have those do nothing, stay at home holidays every so often just for sanity's sake.

How was yours PJB? What did the Barson clan do for the day?

What did you guys all end up getting???

Mine was relatively quiet. I gots me a brand new Kodak HD 14 megapixel digital camera, so as time goes on, Im sure youll be literally seeing my silly face on here more and more along with cool places and things around town where Im at. I had no damn idea a new digi cam. was in my future so it was a great suprize!

Later in the afternoon yesterday my Mom and I took a lil drive over to one of her friends house where we were invited to partake in their families Christmas dinner. The dinner itself was delicious. The main attraction was Mexican style strip steak. I had never had that before, let alone ever heard about it, but yep, Im a fan of it now. We had other traditional goodies there too like stuffing, a lil bit-o-turkey and green bean casserole to name a few things.

By time we got home last night around 6ish, I was friggin stuffed, so I laid low and watched TV before I crashed out around 830, 900 last night. I havent even begun to play with my new camera yet.

Tomorrow life will all but be back to normal for me. Ill be at the ex's shop hangin w/ the kid and then on Sunday afternoon, those 2 are coming over here so the 4 of us can do our Christmas together. Again, no idea what Im getting from the kid and the ex, but regardless it will be fun.

Today the temp. was unseasonably warm here, almost 50! It melted a ton of the snow pack on the ground and on the streets. I guess there are no major snow storms threatening this area on the map for the next 7 days!!! Be nice to get all this crappy looking snow melted away so when the next big storm hits (and I damn well know it will sooner than later) the snow will look fresh and beautiful again like when it 1st begins to fall.

The ex ordered a Nintendo Wii system today off of Amazon.com w/ the sports pack which I guess contains golf, bowling and a few other games. She also ordered the Wii fit pack which is the Wii workout system she is gonna give a try since its private in her own pad and she can do it any time shes free, instead of shelling out 50 or 60 bucks a month to a gym and then having to worry about when shell be able to get there and for how long. I think its a great idea actually.

The ex is also definitely going to have a small New Years Eve gathering, like 5 of us, including myself. Should be pretty fun. Im good friends w/ all the girls that will be there and they all adore Ava so it will be a nice, yet mellow way to ring in the new year without having to worry about being away from the kid. Were kinda both addicted to her, so being away from her kinda sucks, especially w/ a sitter who is not family that you cant put all your faith in.

Anyhow folk, thats my 2008 holiday wrap up. I hope yours was as nice as you wanted it to be and I hope even more that you layout some of the details to your holidays here on the blog.

Talk soon Kats.---

Oldie but a goodie

It's a little Long, but I laugh every time:
Snow
December 8
It started to snow. The first snow of the season and the wife and I took our cocktails and sat for hours by the window watching the huge soft flakes drift down from heaven. It looked like a Grandma Moses print. So romantic we felt like newlyweds again. I love snow!

December 9
We woke to a beautiful blanket of crystal white snow covering every inch of the landscape. What a fantastic sight! Can there be a more lovely place in the whole world? Moving here was the best idea I've ever had! Shoveled for the first time in years and felt like a boy again. I did both our driveway and the sidewalks. This afternoon the snowplow came along and covered up the sidewalks and closed in the driveway, so I got to shovel again. What a perfect life!

December 12
The sun has melted all our lovely snow. Such a disappointment! My neighbor tells me not to worry - we'll definitely have a white Christmas. No snow on Christmas would be awful! Bob says we'll have so much snow by the end of winter, that I'll never want to see snow again. I don't think that's possible. Bob is such a nice man. I'm glad he's our neighbor.

December 14
Snow, lovely snow! 8 inches last night. The temperature dropped to -20. The cold makes everything sparkle so. The wind took my breath away, but I warmed up by shoveling the driveway and sidewalks. This is the life! The snowplow came back this afternoon and buried everything again. I didn't realize I would have to do quite this much shoveling, but I'll certainly get back in shape this way. I wish I wouldn't huff and puff so.

December 15
20 inches forecast. Sold my van and bought a 4x4 Blazer. Bought snow tires for the wife's car and 2 extra shovels. Stocked the freezer. The wife wants a wood stove in case the electricity goes out. I think that's silly. We aren't in Alaska , after all.

December 16
Ice storm this morning. Fell on my ass on the ice in the driveway putting down salt. Hurt like hell. The wife laughed for an hour, which I think was very cruel.

December 17
Still way below freezing. Roads are too icy to go anywhere. Electricity was off for 5 hours. I had to pile the blankets on to stay warm. Nothing to do but stare at the wife and try not to irritate her. Guess I should've bought a wood stove, but won't admit it to her. I hate it when she's right. I can't believe I'm freezing to death in my own living room.

December 20
Electricity is back on, but had another 14 inches of the damn stuff last night. More shoveling! Took all day. The damn snowplow came by twice. Tried to find a neighbor kid to shovel, but they said they're too busy playing hockey. I think they're lying. Called the only hardware store around to see about buying a snow blower and they're out. Might have
another shipment in March. I think they're lying. Bob says I have to shovel or the city will have it done and bill me. I think he's lying.

December 22
Bob was right about a white Christmas because 13 more inches of the white shit fell today, and it's so cold, it probably won't melt till August. Took me 45 minutes to get all dressed up to go out to shovel and then I had to piss. By the time I got undressed, pissed and dressed again. I was too tired to shovel. Tried to hire Bob who has a plow on his truck for the rest of the winter, but he says he's too busy. I think the asshole is lying.

December 23
Only 2 inches of snow today. And it warmed up to 0. The wife wanted me to decorate the front of the house this morning. What is she, nuts?!! Why didn't she tell me to do that a month ago? She says she did but I think she's lying.

December 24
6 inches - Snow packed so hard by snowplow, I broke the shovel. Thought I was having a heart attack. If I ever catch the son of a bitch who drives that snow plow, I'll drag him through the snow by his balls and beat him to death with my broken shovel. I know he hides around the corner and waits for me to finish shoveling and then he comes down the street at a 100 miles an hour and throws snow all over where I've just been! Tonight the wife wanted me to sing Christmas carols with her and open our presents, but I was too busy watching for the damn snowplow.

December 25
Merry f#%&ing Christmas! 20 more inches of the damn slop tonight - Snowed in the idea of shoveling makes my blood boil. I hate the snow! Then the snowplow driver came by asking for a donation and I hit him over the head with my shovel. The wife says I have a bad attitude. I think she's a fricking idiot. If I have to watch "It's A Wonderful Life" one more time, I'm going to stuff her into the microwave.

December 26
Still snowed in. Why the hell did I ever move here? It was all HER idea. She's really getting on my nerves.

December 27
Temperature dropped to -30 and the pipes froze; plumber came after 14 hours of waiting for him, he only charged me $1,400 to replace all my pipes.

December 28
Warmed up to above -20. Still snowed in. The BITCH is driving me crazy!!!

December 29
10 more inches. Bob says I have to shovel the roof or it could cave in. That's the silliest thing I ever heard. How dumb does he think I am?

December 30
Roof caved in. I beat up the snow plow driver, and now he is suing me for a million dollars, not only for the beating I gave him, but also for trying to shove the broken snow shovel up his ass. The wife went home to her mother. Nine more inches predicted.

December 31
I set fire to what's left of the house. No more shoveling.

January 8
Feel so good. I just love those little white pills they keep giving me. Why am I tied to the bed?

random thoughts

I guess that the late thirties is the facial hair era. nice beards guys.

This 'n That

I was recently laying on the floor, trying to strech my back a bit (I strained it shoveling snow a few days ago) and my cell phone jabbed me in the leg, so I started messing around with it. I took a picture and figured out how to e-mail it to my self, and since we were talking about beards and hair lines, it kind of fit in.Mostly gray, but my beard comes in redish (now with spots of grey) I don't remember the last time I sat in the barber chair, but it's been a while. Fairly well defined "Widows Peak".
Life is fairly calm around here, the boys are on Winter break, Tif and I are planning a vaca. The shop is pretty slow, compared to June, but steady compared to Nov.
Have a Merry Holiday boys.

Sunday Morning post!

---Well, my fine lads, before things may get a little crazy for you since this is the week of Christmas and you may get sucked into last second gift buying or even worse, the mad dash for the grocery store, I wanted to take a few mins. to wish each and all of you a VERY Merry Christmas.

Man homeboys, the damn years are just flying by, arent they? Its crazy! My daughter will be 6 on Jan. 7th. 6 already!!!

I dont have much going on this week, my Mom and I will be here alone for the holiday. I am really missing Den right around these times because he LOVED Christmas. Not only because of its spiritual significance, but the joy of gift giving and acting like a big kid was also a holiday specialty of his. I just cant get into that frame of mind with him gone, I dont know where to start.

My ex is indeed having a small quiet get together on New Years Eve so that'll be cool. Ill be the only guy there mind you, but eh, no big thing.

Well my brothers, get back at me when ya get time this week, lemme know whats up w/ your Christmas, cool?---

Who's afraid of the Big Bad Wolf?

We have two or three versions of this classic tail laying around our house. The one I like the best is the one where the first two pigs get eaten by the wolf after he blows their houses down (because pig is his favorite food), only to be eaten him self by the third little pig (because wolf is his favorite food). Our other favorite version is a Disney golden book with a more gentle approach, but a very well drawn and scary looking wolf. This is the book C is afraid of. well we have read it more than once so thought it about time we should find that old animation on the web. Pamela who happened to be tooling around with our camera caught the moment for us... great shot P!

Its not letting up!

---So tomorrow, we are supposed to get hit w/ an ice storm (1/4 inch of ice, too much for me), sleet, then snowfall totaling 3 inches. Ole man Winter isnt even officially in here until next week and he wont let up already! The snow? Thats all good, dont mind it at all, but the ice? Fuck that shit, no thanks, I always get freaked out we are gonna lose power and heat!

Helped the kid decorate Christmas cookies tonight at the ex's digs, it was messy and fun. I wont get to do Christmas w/ my Ava until after Christmas itself, she'll be outta town on the actual holiday. Im used to that though. Christmas Eve I think Ill take me Mum out to dinner, then on Christmas day, we are gonna have her trademark Lasagna.

Im still clueless as to what Im getting from anyone, its rather exciting.

My Social D. bootleg inventory is now up to 38! Woot! Woot!

Been pretty frigid here the past few days, its been long underwear weather by far!

I hope you guys are all geared up for the Holidays, hows that goin on your end guys?

New Years will be spent with the ex and Ava. I dont drink (really, not much anyways) and the ex will knock back a few barley pops, so it will be a quiet night. The ex may have a few people over too which would rock. Ava usually spends 4 or 5 nights ahead of time cutting out and making her own "home made" confetti for New Years. Shes allowed to stay up as late as she can muster that night, but shes usually out on the couch by 10, 1030, then I carry her to bed.

Whats about you guyses? New Years plans? Any? None? Too many?

I saw this rather pudgy looking, kinda small bottle of clear tequila at the store the other day. 40 damn dollars! Thats insane, but at the same time, damn I bet its yummy with salt lick and a lime chaser. No way am I gonna drop 40 bones on a bottle though. No damn way.

Well boyos, thats about it here, shout back when ya can, OK?---

This and that.

---Freezing ass cold out and the snow is coming down in a big way. Been sittin here burning certain things I have to disc as of late.

Hey Scott, I didnt realize you had to have a membership to Facebook in order to browse other profiles. I know its free and all, but I dont really wanna get started with that. Believe it or not, there are people I am still hiding from in my past, heh. I appreciate the invite though, Im glad you thought of me, but its just not my bag.

Gosh, Id cut someones heart out for a good show to come through town about now. Last week, The Rev. came through but I passed, seen him like 5 times, his psychobilly fans are annoying as hell and I had no one to go with. Social D. isnt gonna have a new album out 'til prolly the ending quarter of 09, so if they are gonna come through here it wont be until '10.

Im addicted to Ricola cough drops.

You guys ready for Christmas at all? My Mom and I will be here, alone for the holiday, we'll adapt though, we usually do.

Where are you guys going?---

News flash

---Holy crap is it cold out!!!!

Thats all, carry on.---

1,564 and counting

---Thats how many posts our blog has had. Impressive! And to think, this blog is getting in the neighborhood of its 3rd Birthday already! Damn, where did all that time go?

It was nice here yesterday, about 45, sunny and it was even nice when I got up this morning at 8, but out of nowheresville the sky went gray and it got damn chilly. I guess the high temp. here for the next couple of days is like 13.

Well, I got all the holiday shopping done this past Friday. Some was done here, some was done online. I have NO damn clue as to what Im getting from anyone this year, Im kinda excited about that.

Ive been looking around the interwebs for a t shirt that just says "Old School" on it and I have had no luck. I was gonna use Cafe Press and design my own, but I cant even find an image that just says Old School.

Hows things there? Business slow down PJB? Hows the wee little girl Scott? I finally have come to the realization that my tummy can no longer sustain fully caffeinated coffee. Ugh, I had 2 1/2 cups this AM and it felt like gut rot after about a half hour. I think Im gonna have to go with a 50/50 blend from now on. Has that happened to any of you at all? Its weird, I can drink iced tea, which has more caffeine than coffee without any troubles, but the coffee, oh man, it wrecks me. Lately all I have been drinking is Gatoraide. Not because its a healthy, so called thirst quencher, but there are quite a few flavors I enjoy.

So, whats up?---

The turkey and the bull.

A turkey was chatting with a bull. "I would love to be able to get tot the top of that tree" sighed the turkey, "but I haven't got the energy.
"

"Well why don't you nibble on some of my droppings?" the bull replied. "They are packed with nutrients.
"

The turkey pecked at a lump of poo and found it actually gave him enough strength to reach the lowest branch of the tree. The next day, after eating some more poo, he reached the second branch.

Finally after a fourth night, the turkey was proudly perched at the top of the tree. He was promptly spotted by a farmer and was shot down.

Moral of the story:
Bull shit might get you to the top, but it won't keep you there.

...Lets see here...

---First off, glad youre home safe and sound PJB. Did you have a good trip?

Sorry I have been so bloggeriffic as of late but Ive had a lot of time wasting thoughts enter my mind and I enjoy sharing them w/ you guyses.

Are any one of you in the holiday/Christmas spirit as of yet? I do not think I am. Its weird, our neighborhood is decorated quite nicely but it still pretty much has no effect on me. The holiday TV commercials dont do it, even some of the holiday goodies I have already eaten havent done it. With me, I know it is because, as odd as it sounds, its simply because I still miss Den, even around this time of year more so. I thought this whole process was supposed to get easier?

How come as kids, heat nor cold bothered us, now it kicks our asses. Well, it does mine. I was just out a few mins. ago having a stupid ass ciggy and realized shit, its friggin freezin' out here, screw this, Im goin back in. When we were younger, it could be 20 below and we'd be at the local sledding hill with our shirts off, sledding like idiots.

Anybody catching my drift here?---

Monday, December 08, 2008

Is it just here or......

---Does it just happen here or do the weather forecasters there over hype possible upcoming storms too? An example. Just this past Sat. our local weather people here were saying the snow storm we are due for over night here into tomorrow AM was gonna be a doozy! Then Sunday they still said we were gonna get nailed, but not quite as bad, then tonight on the news at 5, it turns out we are due for 1-2 inches tomorrow morning!

I can understand that weather fronts move and push and pull and can change drastically, so then why dont these weather goofs just wait til time gets closer to make a "prediction"? Yeah, thats right, thats all they do to make 6 figures a year is predict things in the air.

I know most of you guys arent big TV buffs, but maybe you catch some local news now and again. Do they pull that shit there too? Im just wondering...---

Um, I dunno

---Well, my ex's holiday fashion show/holiday party went off like a blast, it was fun and the models looked great. I was up til about 230 AM hangin at my ex's w/ a true old schooler, a super nice friend of hers, Suzanne was her name, talked about seeing The Ramones back in the late 70s at CBGBs and shit. Wow. I talked to her for over an hour about music alone, super cool kitten. She said if I was in my early 40s, she would have totally jumped me, then dated me, hehe....

We are due for another nailing of snow tomorrow night into Tues. Old man winter is makin his rounds. Bet you guys get it Weds.

So, what kind of gifts ya buying the ladies this year??? Scott? PJB? Any others?

Im still addicted to nicotine. This makes me sad.---

Early Holiday Bash!

---Well, tomorrow night my ex will host her shop's holiday closed to the public, invite only, hot to trot party. Shes been in planning for this one for a while and Im going in my Mike Ness Gangster best (Black pin stripped pants, black button up long sleeve dress shirt and white tie w/ greased back hair). Shes not sure whos gonna show up but that doesnt mean much to me. One word does though- MODELS!!!! About 8 or 10 of 'em, usually pretty hot.

Kids will be there, munchies will be eaten, beer will be drank, but not by me, somebody has to keep a level head on. And hopefully, the ex will make a killing!

So, who else here has to host or go to a holiday party this month???---

From Childhood

I am getting a little old to be giggling over Cartoons so often, but this one still really cracks me up! I let Colin watch it with me but I am not sure he understood it... likely for the better.

Strange Contrails?

As seen from my family room window looking north mid morning. Just thought I would share my little "hey that looks kind of strange" moment.

MORE white stuff

---Well, we are gettin hit w/ an additional 5-6 inches of the white fluff today. Its very pretty. As you all know, I love winter time, however, after about the 5th or 6th time we get dumped on like this I start to get restless. I hope this winter is not like last winter where it seemed like it snowed every other day from November 1st onward. But so far, I love it, its very tranquil and peaceful. Its kinda nice when youre stuck inside because of a nasty snow fall. The damn wind here today is brutal, that is what is keeping me in.

I need to start thinking about Christmas shopping.

How have you guys been? Its been nice to see all of you pop on to the blog for a sentence or two here and there, Ive enjoyed it. Nothing all too special is goin down here. My Mom is feeling a lot better than she was a few days ago, for that I am thankful. Ive recently slept walked for the 1st time since I was like 12 or 13! Nothing too memorable came to be, but my Mom thought it was, um, interesting to say the least. They say that that shit can happen when you are on a sleep aid like Ambien or Lunesta. Ive been taking Lunesta now for over a year. The shit works, but some of the side effects are tripped out!

Hope you are all well. Get back at me when you get a few.---

hope everyone had a nice holiday

mine was spent with the family. we had Julia's dad out for the week and I had an unusual four days off (mon-thurs), and then got to work three doubles in a row. well at least we were really busy so I rarely had time to eat. turkey day was spent at home and at the community feast in this wonderful small town that i live in. there must of been fifty people and plenty of food. there was live music played by some very talented locals. which was topped off with the fiddle/ harmonica duo playing "punk rock girl" around the campfire. peace

Before and After

Well it has been a busy one at our house for some time now. We hosted Thanks Giving again this year, and once again our to-do list as before was way to long. But we did it we finally finish painting the kitchen which was our largest most ambitious job. The difference is rather dramatic. So now you know what I have been up to and if you look closely you can even see where I sit when I have time to go on line. Hope all of you had an enjoyable holiday. I am looking forward to a quiet Christmas at my sisters!

Yep, the white stuff.

---Well, we here in Des Moines got our first measurable hit of snow this past weekend, like 3-4 inches. It was pretty easy to deal with. I shoveled our walk up to the door and tomorrow its gonna be 45, so Ill let the warmer temps do the rest.

My Mom is wayyyy sick, I feel really bad for her. Shes terribly weak, so I stick close to home so I can keep an eye on her cuz she doesnt know when to quit, crazy lady!

So my ex hid 2 of Ava's Christmas presents in the backroom at the shop. Way in the back, pretty well hidden away. Well guess what? On Sat. the kid comes out of the back room holding one of them while she talked about the other one being too heavy to move! Hah, Mama got busted. Smart assed kid findin stuff. We both laughed about it in the end but the ex was kinda mad at herself first. Right now the kid is OBSESSED w/ dinosaurs, so one of the gifts was dino related and the second gift was a play kitchen set that looks kick ass on the box. Dang little stinker

Kids, I tell ya......---

Insanity

---So, some poor Wal Mart employee gets fucking trampled to death when one of its stores opened it's doors at 5 friggin AM this past Friday morning. On top of that, a mother to be was also brought down in the madness. Her baby shall be alright and Im certain she will be too, thank God.

But WTF! Thats all I can say, I cant wrap my mind around this madness, WTF!---

Black Friday

---Alright, so how many of you gained an extra pound or two from yesterday? I did pig out, but not as bad as I wanted to, Ive been battling some under the weather blues for a few days now and that kinda hampered the gorge fest I had originally planned.

I sure as hell didnt go shoppin' at 5 AM this morning, but my Mom was out there in the mix by 6! Friggin crazy!

So, our tree and stuff is all up, who here is breakin' out the decorations this weekend? Anyone?

I hope you ALL had great Turkey Days and ya got to eat all ya wanted. Now the real chaos of the holidays start w/ shoppin' and all that fun stuff.

Have a good weekend boys, chit chat again soon.....---

Turkey Day/Black Thursday/Thanksgiving

---With another year beginning to start to draw to a close, this Thanksgiving, as I pig out on bird and all the fixins, I can say with 100% that, for yet another year, I am blessed to call you all my brothers.

Have a great Thanksgiving fuckers.---

Thursday, November 20, 2008

Sheesh.

---Its way too cold way too early in the season. I need a nice shot of Whiskey to warm me up...Nah, Im kidding, no booze here.

Are you guys freezin ass cold there too? I think we are supposed to get snow over the weekend.

So, what are you boys doing for Thanksgiving? Something huge and monumental, or are you just staying home and keeping the get together small? My Mom and I are going over to a friends house for dinner, should be a fuckin blast, lemme tell ya.

Social D. is touring this coming Jan-March w/ Motorhead at some tattoo festival, pretty interesting. They have Chicago listed as a stop on the road, so we'll havta see where Im at before I make any decisions about going. Fuckin bastards need to knock it off and get into the studio and lay out a new album, but then again, touring is where you make all your serious $$$ as a musician. I know a few people through some of the message boards I go to that know Mike pretty well and Mike doesnt wanna do this forever now that he has 2 kids and a lovely wife.

Get back at me boys---

From the Mouths

So my older son is here at the shop and we are playing sort of an informal name that tune. It's a long running game: when a new song comes on, someone spouts off with as much information about the song as possible.
It's starting to slow down at the shop so I have been playing "My" music from my laptop's I-tunes.
and Son#1 says "Dad, thanks for introducing me to the cool music you listen to" he's going to be 12 this week.
That's it, I just thought it was cool, and I wanted to share.

Randomness

Did you notice that at the top of our little blog there is a little button "Next Blog"
It was brought to my attention when I visited Mark M Rag, so I clicked it, and was brought to a blog in Japanese, another click, Spanish, another click, English. I was clicking and scanning for longer then I'd like to admit. Sometimes you have to hit back on your browser in order to get to a new blog, because, not everyone has that little "Next Blog" tag.
If you have some time, check it out, it's kinda fun, random stuff.

Life happens pretty fast....

---and if you dont stop every once in a while to look around, you might just miss it. Anyhow folk, over about the past 18 months or so, I have been playing email tag with a fellow Offmen, Mike Thumm and it has somewhat taught me a few things about friendships. First, its that nothing, time nor space will come between you and a dear pally, thats why I can say Im still tight w/ most of you here. Secondly, a short email from an old friend does wonders for the spirit when youre feelin down and last but not least, it puts things in perspective. Well, for me it has.

It has helped me to see that if I cant take 3 mere mins. out of my daily life every once in a while to send an email to an old pally that just says "Hey",there could be something wrong in my life. Am I runnin too fast, on "the go" too much or have I believed myself when Ive filled my own head full of shit and told myself that Ive out grown certain things.

True friends are for life. Period.

I love gettin email from Thummy it is always a bright spot to my day and it has taught me to slow down and take the time to reply to him and in most cases, come up with a little something to add to our little blog here.

MAKE time for YOURSELF every day if you can boys. Stop what youre doin and just sit or stand there and look around and never forget some of the special people that directly or indirectly may have helped to get ya to where you are in life, especially when it comes to fellow OMI members

At one time in the distant past, we were a strong brotherhood. Once in a while try to grab onto nostalgia again and drop a brother an email or swing over here to the blog and pound out a short little message as to what youre up to and so on.---

Here comes Monday...again!

---Hi boys, hows life? Its way too cold here way to early in the "winter" season (even though winter itself doesnt begin for a while)for me to like. Its like 20 degrees here right now. At least I know my grass cutting days are done until next April or so.

Im very anxious to see who Pres.-elect Obama will hire to his cabinet. I actually found a great website called change.gov that allows the user to have somewhat of a direct interface with The President which is also another first in this great nation. For example, you can go to the site and "tell your story" about something that is bothering you in the US and Obama is going to hire an entire staff to monitor the site, read your emails and pass them on in the chain as they see fit. To me, that is fucking awesome. Ive already written a couple of emails w/ hopes of them reaching somewhere near the Oval Office. People have bitched and bitched about wanting "change" in America and now that we have it, I am totally gonna use it w/ very high hopes...it cant hurt, ya know?

My ex sis in law has disappeared again, it doesnt come as a shock to me, I just friggin hate seeing my ex all upset over it. She (my ex sis in law)has let her life become consumed by drugs, nothing more, nothing less, trust me, Ive been there. She has nothing to live for. Both her kids were taken by the State. Her son lives w/ his Dad and her 16 yr. old daughter is one fuck up away from juvenile detention until shes 18. Good Lord.

My daughter is doing GREAT! She read one of her little books to me this past weekend and I only had to help like once or twice. Yeah, yeah, I friggin cried, wanna make something of it? =)

Hey Scott, hows your little wee one doing?

Well brothers, I wont keep ya, I just had an itchy typing finger or two, so I thought Id pound out a quick update to ya'll

Get back at me guys.---

We did it again.

---Now that the emotional high is starting to slowly wear off of me from last night's victory, I sit here and think that the rest of the World must be thinking "There goes the US, they did it yet again." We shocked the World last night by electing a black President, something, at one point in my life I thought Id never see, let alone my Ava.

Time will tell. Barack will be tested BIG TIME. The World will indeed be watching him, some at close range. We still have time to celebrate for a bit and watch (and pray) that he puts together a decent cabinet. But, we did it again, we made history once more, giving me, on a personal level,a reason to be even more pride filled with this nation than I was say 3 nights ago.

Today I was outside of my ex's shop having a ciggy and my friend Anthony, who is black came out of his apartment which is above my ex's digs and bummed a smokey and asked about what I thought of the election. Tears welled up in both our eyes. We couldnt say anything, we just shook hands and hugged. Anthony then said "It isnt about our colors now Eric" and for the first honest and open time it wasnt. Obama helped him and I to come together as human beings first, but also as Americans. Ill admit, before my Ava was born into this World I had developed some racist habits. Id throw around the word nigger or spic like it was nothing. But remember parents out there...having a child changes everything.

It isnt about color to me now, its about change. Lets all hope President elect Obama can unify this nation as ONE during his term. Lets hope he can get our troops home in 16 months like he wants to, while the Iraqi Govt. sits on a huge surplus of money. Lets hope he can turn our economy around. Lets hope he creates jobs. Lets hope that he gives more fair and equal benefits to the mentally ill, like me.

He will be tested. Lets hope that the change we need has finally come and we can put Bush politics to bed for good.

Im not going to "claim" to be affiliated w/ any political party anymore. Im for the party of hope, of independence and of freedom. Obama taught me that that is OK. The GOP is dead. It is so full of hate it made me ill. I tip my hat to Sen. McCain though for a great run at the prize. Sarah Palin? Thats a whole nother story and Im trying to be nice here.

Good luck Mr. President elect Sir. Now is your time to prove you can shine!---
I know these are difficult times for America. But I also know that we have faced difficult times before. The American story has never been about things coming easy - it's been about rising to the moment when the moment was hard. It's about rejecting fear and division for unity of purpose. That's how we've overcome war and depression. That's how we've won great struggles for civil rights and women's rights and workers' rights. And that's how we'll emerge from this crisis stronger and more prosperous than we were before - as one nation; as one people.

-Senator Barack Obama, - October 30, 2008

---Excuse me thats now President elect Barack Obama.---

President Obama

---Ill admit it, I cried a little. I cannot even begin to imagine what it would feel like to be African American right now. His speech was amazing and I truly believe he will bring great change to this nation. The sky is the limit for the US, if only the hard nosed bastards (like I used to be) of the Repub. Party cooperate.

Hell, even seeing Jesse Jackson in tears fucked with me.

Obama's speech was absolutely perfect and delivered with great passion and precision. I feel as if this country has been reborn again and maybe this nation will get some real shit done. Im counting the seconds until Bush gets his ass evicted from The White House.

This is our RFK....our MLK......our champion. I cant wait until Jan. to see what this bad ass has in store for this nation.---

Code of silence broken on Election day??? Well sort of maybe just for today.

Just wanted you all to know that today was my fifth presidential election to participate in, and looking back at my track record it appears I have been very consistent. I have consistently voted four times in a row now for one of the losers, maybe the fifth time is the charm? Well I hope all of you are having a great day and I hope I didn’t spoil your vote for your favorite candidate by voting for them.

No Politics here!

Thought I would make with a post about life around here that was Politics free.
lessee.
Tif and I just signed up to do the Hustle up the Hancock. That's a run, up the stairs of the Hancock building in Chicago, we have a little training to do....
Helloween was fun, we gave away like over 1,000 pieces of candy. Jake was Angus Young (of AC/DC) Max was Indiana Jones, Tif was Mother Nature, Dad was a drunken Idiot. Something different this year, when the boys got home I offered them $10 for their candy, "What are you gonna do with it" they asked, "It doesn't matter" I said. "Why do you want to pay me for it" they asked. "Because it's worth the money to know you don't eat it I said"
Only one boy took me up on it.
Business is starting to slow down a bit. which is giving me time to take carre of some of the odd jobs around the shop. we are knocking down some walls, adding some store fixtures and building bikes for next year, we also need to figure out where to keep said bikes.
It looks like Tif is going to go to Bike Geek School, like I did last year.
I think thats about it...

talk at you cats later.

Take the day off!

---Pretty cool to see a classic character make a comeback huh?---

Yes we can......

Cheers and Jeers: Thank you so much, Senator, for sitting down with us today. I know Daily Kos readers are eager to hear more details about the issues that affect them. First, let me just get a sense of tomorrow's election. Can we really win this thing?
Barack Obama: Yes we can!
One thing you've talked a lot about on the stump is agriculture. Do you ever grow your own vegetables and preserve them?
Yes. We can.
Will you fire the incompetent cronies that populated the Bush administration for the last eight years after you take office in January?
Yes. We'll can.
On a lighter note, you and Michele both danced separately on The Ellen DeGeneres Show. Do you ever dance together?
Yes, we cancan.
Is there anything in particular that'll keep Sasha and Malia occupied when you're trying to concentrate in the Oval Office? I mean, besides sending them upstairs to do their homework?
Yes. Wii can.
I'm a little nervous. May I take a potty break?
Yes. Pee, man!
[Three minutes later...]
I have an email here from the Abominable Snowman: "Senator Obama, can you redouble America's efforts to protect our wilderness areas?"
Yeti, we can!
If you could create the new bumper sticker slogan for your opponent, what would it say?
"Yes We Can't!"
Do you have a favorite film festival you like to follow?
Yes! Oui! Cannes!
What do you say to your detractors in the media, who say you can't be an effective president because of all the crises facing the country?
Press, we can!
You and the family seem to enjoy spending time at the beach. Is that true?
Yes. We clam.
Here we are, less than 24 hours before the polls open. What will be going through your mind when your head hits the pillow the night you learn you're the 44th President of the United States?
Yessssssss! We ran!

OBAMA!!! OBAMA!!!

---Well, today was the big day. Myself, along with my ex and my daughter went to see Sen. Obama speak with about 25,000 other people in Downtown Des Moines this morning. To be blunt, it was fucking AWESOME! This man needs to be the next President of the US.

The whole thing was surreal. Here I was standing maybe 12 feet away from one of the most talked about people in the world, all the while sharp shooters do their thing by walking about on the roof tops of nearby buildings. Barack spoke for about 35 mins. and I let every word sink in.

I obviously cant tell you who to vote for, but if you already havent voted early, PLEASE exercise your RIGHT as an AMERICAN and hit the polls on Tuesday, ok? This election will change the way the rest of the world looks at us for a long while to come, so use your noggin and get out there and vote cuz right now, on a Worldly scale, we aint lookin too good, ya dig!!!---

Obama Rally

---Well, the ex knows Dems in high places so we have 3 VIP tickets for tomorrows rally here in Des Moines. They are expecting 100,000 people, thats, um, a TON for a city this size and to think there is a good chance we will only be a few feet away from him! My daughter will remember being 5 years old and seeing the future President for the rest of her life, its something very important to us. This just isnt your run of the mill politician, this one, to me and to millions of others, is special.

Hes set to hit the podium at 1130 tomorrow morning, so if you get the chance to turn on CNN or MSNBC or even FOX, please do so, maybe youll see me. Ill guess one of those damn cable news channels will be covering him. If not give it a couple hours and do a search on You tube, it'll be there. Ill report back sometime tomorrow with a feel of what is was like...until then...take care boys!

Breaking news...

---Just a few hours ago, the ATF broke up a plot to assassinate Obama while he was in Arizona. The people involved? 2 WP skins.

I truly hope this is not a sign of things to come once he wins and is in office, but if you think about it all great black leaders from the past 50 years or so have been killed, then left with sketchy motives as to why.

MLK...Malcolm X...now what, Obama?

I sure hope not, I want him to change this nation and I dont want a bunch of hate mongering Repubs. all dancing for joy...not all, but some would.

Then I think half this country would burn. Talk about riots, holy shit!!!

Just thought you guys might wanna know.---

Bobby and Barack...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H6xyhBMMFlY

---This is pretty cool. My Mom wont have it but a lot of peeps are comparing Sen. Obama to the likes of Bobby and John Kennedy. Ill agree, that may be a bit extreme, but the vid. is worth watching anyways.

I saw today that the Anchorage AK. news paper endorsed Obama as their pick. HAHA, poor old Palin cant even get a paper from her own state to endorse her. They said she was a poor choice for McCain to grab up as a runnin mate...not enough experience.---

.....Adolf Hitler took a cyanide capsule and stuck it up his pooper. Then he put a gun to his head and blew his head off. For those of you that believe in White Supremacy, follow your leader!
---M. Ness

---Im still getting email from all my old Repub. friends I used to chat with on the interwebs up until about a month and a half ago. Thats when it all started. The questions, the second guessing...all of it. It was then that I realized that the GOP had not only betrayed me, but betrayed itself by choosing a leader like McCain and that fucking psycho whore Palin. I started to look deep down inside myself, to who I truly was, to you guys, to people I really loved and who loved me. I knew Id piss off some, but such is life. Just think about how many Barack Obama is pissing off right now, hah. I cant wait to vote, I am so excited this time around. My email inbox has been flooded w/ Repub. propaganda and it feels so good to not even bother with reading it and sending it straight to the trash folder.

The man of the hour has taken on incredible odds. He has done what no man has done before. He has climbed and conquered a MAMMOTH mountain of obstacles to get to where he is. I am proud to know he is a fellow Chicagoian and I am PROUD to know he will be my next President. The GOP has destructed and fallen to pieces. No more same ole bullshit year after year, its time for something new.

If you dont like it, shut your damn mouth and get the hell out of the way!---

Story time...

---Here is a little story my ex and my girl had last night before going to bed. It really made me think. OK, read away....

I was watching Rachel Maddow, which is an MSNBC show that covers politics....Rachel is nice and kind and not angry, throws some snark in but is very intelligent and cool.

A segment came on about the chick who faked the whole "Obama lunatic angry black man carved a "B" on my face!" thing.

Ava was playing but started paying attention and asking questions. I explained to her that the girl lied to the police and said a black man attacked her and carved a B on her face because he was mad she didn't like Obama and liked McCain better.

The footage showed the girl cuffed and headed to jail, so Ava asked why. I said, its against the law to lie to the police. And its also very bad to make up a story to make black people look bad.

She said "That girl is a bully and should go to jail forever!!!". And asked why she didn't like black people. I had to tell her some people even now don't like black people and are mean to them,

Her face got really sad, and I asked her....does that make you sad?

She quietly said, "That makes me really sad. Really, really sad." & was quiet.

(seriously this was a reeeeeaaallly hard moment for me....)

I have read her that book I got her called "Henry's Freedom Box", and have explained a little about slavery. In the book, Henry is a child slave, grows up and marries another slave woman who was owned by another master who allowed it, and sold her to his master. They had kids (this is a true story, BTW). His master took ill and lost money, and Henry is told one day at work in his master's factory that his master was selling his wife and kids out in the town square. He got there in time to see them being hauled away.

He eventually escaped his master by literally MAILING himself in a wooden crate to someone a white friend of slaves hooked him up with up north, had a harrowing ride on a boat....upside down, little air, no food for days. He found freedom but never saw his wife and kids again.

Yeah, it was hardcore for a small child. I didnt realize it would be. But its also true....and we cant pretend like it didnt happen, and she needs to know.

Anyway, she then said to me....."We didnt ever slave black people did we? Oh, no, we couldn't...we weren't even invented then".

Then.

"Would they slave Daddy? His skin is brown."

I explained no, Daddy wasnt invented then either....and Daddy is really "white", but darker. She talked about a kid in her class named Dean who is so dark there is no "lightness" to his skin. She went on to ask if people who don't like black people are mean to kids.

I told her no (which is probably a lie), and said its grown ups being mean to grown ups and its wrong. She said "We're good white people, right? We aren't mean to black people."

I agreed and told her yes, we are good...and that I was proud of her for being a good person. That skin color doesn't matter.....whether light or dark skinned as white people or light or dark skinned as black people, we're all the same.

She finally let it go......but I don't doubt it will stay with her. I'm pretty pissed at McCain and his constant hate mongering that inspired this stunt. More than that, I'm pissed that when a black man is this close to doing something incredible for the country....this WORLD we live in and she will grow up in, that racist assholes would try to destroy it. And the fallout is affecting our children.

Pretty deep shit coming from a nearly 6 year old kid huh? It blew me away! Shes a smart little one. But yeah, it just goes to show what the McCain boys and girls are up to and how they are breeding so much hate which they hope can carry then to the polls. Fuck guys, Im smelling a damn landslide here. That old ass, unhealthy, ugly prick doesnt stand a chance. Then Palin can go back to Alaska and shoot moose with her Dad cuz she'll never be welcomed in DC. She goes out and blows 150K on a new look, yet at the same time shes "just like every other hard working American family out there." Bullshit. I hope on election night she throws some kind of temper tantrum for the whole world to see so she finally puts the last nail in her coffin, thus never being welcomed in DC again. Damn bitch.

But anyways, the kid got pretty deep on Mom last night and I wanted to share it with you guys to show you that even innocent little 5 year old girls are being effected by McCain's bullshit.---

Ramblings of a recent convert.

---I havent been on the Obama train long, but Im proud I am now. I can just feel such hope and excitement when I look at him, not to mention his opponent, Sen. McCain is a fucko.

My Mom ( as some of you knew/know) is a Bible thumping, devil rebuking, speakin in tongues kinda Christian. Its her life. I respect it, but ever since I admitted to her that Im voting Obama, my ass has been in the hot seat, so keep me in your thoughts guys, ok?

She is determined to "watch the country go down the tubes" when Barack stomps all over Mr. Dipshit and his bitch in tow. Fuck McCain and that know nothing Palin. Gosh darn, it terrifies me to think she could be a heart attack away from the Presidency if they would actually win.

Did you hear about that bitch McCain volunteer that claimed she was jumped by a "black guy" and that he tried to engrave a B (for Barack, duh) into the side of her face? Yep. you guessed it, was all a hoax, she did confess after a while. Ole McCain doesnt come out to say that its wrong either...good one Senator!

Its all down to the Electoral College and Barack has more than half of what he needs to win

Remember......YES WE CAN!---

Terry Tate

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=07kO9TtHYzQ

---You may remember Terry Tate from some gym shoe ads from several years ago. Just watch the whole clip from start to finish. Trust me.

You mostly all know that my Mom is a devout born again Christian. I have so much respect for her cuz of that youll never know. Right now, my home stands firmly divided due to the upcoming election. Its pretty intense. If the flack I am catching is just a drop of what Obama has caught to get where he is today, then Im not worthy.

Hope or Hate? YOU decide. On Nov. 4th, I will decide.

For MLK, hope

For Bobby Kennedy, hope

For JFK, hope

For Malcolm X, hope

For COUNTLESS others who have come and gone, I choose hope, especially for the apple of my eye.

I CHOOSE HOPE!!!

Let it be...

This video gave me goosebumps. Fuck McCain. Fuck Palin. Fuck the establishment.

Obama is getting ready to make history and he deserves the respect due. It took me a while, but my eyes have been opened now. On Nov. 4th Senator Obama will shine as a new era of US politics is lifted in.

Its time for a change.

Fuck the system.

A few words.....

---Joe the plumber.

What a fucking joke. Thats all Im gonna say. This "election" is outta control. Its in the bag for Obama, which I have no huge problem with, simply because I think McCain is fuckin' senile and gettin worse by the day. Staunch Repub's are walking away from John everyday now in fucking DROVES. McCain has disgraced himself, his Senate chair and the party he represents.

Do I smell a landslide?

Have a great weekend boys. Its gotten DAMN chilly here, we got our first real frost last night, wasnt too bad though, hasnt killed plants or anything yet, but I think the damn bugs bit it, WOOHOO. Only gonna be in the 60s all next week.

Pardon all my profanity, but I needed the blog to vent a tad. You guys know how hard of a Repub. I was and then we get stuck w/ a MORON like McCain to represent us in the Gen. election? Youve already heard my speech though, yeah, Im GOP at heart, but not this election year, I am walking away, Im still undecided as to whom I will vote for, but Im studying Obama really damn hard now. As I get ready to crash for the night, I just heard on TV, that the Univ. of Nebraska has cancelled a Bill Ayers speaking engagement citing it as a "safety" matter. What the hell? The guy was a Weathermen radical many, many, many years ago. Get the hell over it, hes a professor now. Im not going to say anything else on this subject out of fear of getting this little blog "flagged" by certain organizations. America is currently dead. Wake me when she wakes up, would ya? Fuck, Im mad.

Have a good weekend. Enjoy the kids Scott. Sell some bikes, lots of bikes PJB.---

My slice of perfection.

---Went to parent/teacher conferences tonight at Ava's school. For the first time in my life I can honestly say I know what TRUE pride feels like. Fuck Obama. Fuck McCain. I didnt care about gettin home to see them argue after hearing all the wonderful things about my little girl. We were told she is the smartest and best student in the class and is reading at a grade 2 level and is close to writing at a grade 1 level. She insists on sitting next to her teacher because she enjoys helping her out so much. We got to see and keep a bunch of the wonderful drawings she has done.

Ive fucking been to hell and back over the past few years guys. Tonight, I cried a little. Tears of pride feel awesome!---

Kids Vote!!!

It's official. At least for the kids! The Scholastic Presidential Election Poll results are in: Democratic nominee Senator Barack Obama won with 57 percent of the vote, to 39 percent for Republican nominee Senator John McCain.
The poll was open to kids from grades 1 to 12 in Scholastic News and Junior Scholastic magazines. Almost 250,000 (a quarter of a million) kids voted by paper ballot or online at www.scholastic.com/news. The poll closed on October 10.
Since 1940, the results of the student vote have mirrored the outcome of the general election all but twice: In 1948, kids voted for Thomas E. Dewey over Harry S. Truman. In 1960, more students voted for Richard M. Nixon than for John F. Kennedy. In 2000, a majority of student voters chose George W. Bush, mirroring the Electoral College result, but not the result of the popular vote.

BOOM!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8n-nT-luFIw&feature=related

---I figured Mr. Steve would like this along w/ PJB. This fucker really left me thinking. If this was pulled off by the Government, it was way beyond and way over Bush's head. He had no damn clue. Secret ops. like the CIA and divisions like that may have been involved, but this act was WAY bigger than 'ole W. That is, once again, if this short documentary is true.

It left me thinking pretty hard.---

Deep thought AKA what happened to my party?

---Today was kid watching day for me and it wasnt so bad, I could do it at a distance. Every spare SECOND I had my mind was on fire. I was thinking about the election and how important it is and how its time for change, but then my mind began to wander off in a different direction.....

What has happened to my great and grand GOP party? It has been reduced to them name calling people "elitists" and the like. People with an education were bad, people without an education were bad. They used class and racism to bend and twist words. Now dont get me wrong, Im not perfect when it comes to those things, but at least I show change and I try, the Repubs just become worse!

This is the same party that has produced the 2 GREATEST Presidents in United States history in Abraham Lincoln and the late Ronald Reagan.

My GOP has been stolen by short talkin, quick stealin, mind numbin theives! Sarah Palin? WHAT THE FUCK??? When Sen. McCain first entered the race I was cool with him, I thought OK, John can fight, but I swear some of the shit coming out of his mouth over the past few weeks and months has been mind blowing. Im starting to wonder if he is physically ill again and they are just keeping it under wraps until the election is over so they can use that as an excuse to why he lost!

Im NOT on the Obama band wagon by any means, there are things about him that make me very uneasy, but Im not banging out this little rant to say Im all of a sudden pro Barack, I just wanna know where the hell the real GOP machine went! The one that when I was young, was fucking unstoppable. I was watching a few mins. of a couple Reagan speeches on Youtube this AM and it almost brought me to tears.

Its gone. Its racist. Its full of liars. Its full of schemers. Its full of lost causes.

Its gone. Im so very upset and saddened.

E. (GOP at heart for life, but walking away in 08).---

Have a great weekend boys---

---Hi boys, just wanted to take a minute or two to say have a nice weekend. Mine will be pretty routine, kid at the shop tomorrow, football Sunday. Gonna be a warm weekend here, close, but not quite 80 but then next week it all goes to shit with 4 days of rain forecasted. Now thats fall weather!

Well, my "issue" that I had mentioned a few blogs ago has kinda worked itself into an agreement and has mellowed out, I think I will be able to handle it when needed. It has to do w/ my ex and her alcohol problem. She needs and wants to be sober and she needs and wants my help. I will do what I can, but will NOT push myself over the edge and she understands that. I refuse to allow my daughter to see alcohol as a normal acceptable thing floating around her house all the time and she agrees. I never once got high in front of her, not once, so Im gonna help her, I just made it VERY clear that there will be days that I will have other things going or I may not be up to it because of the way I feel and because of my mental illnesses and again, she understood, so we are all good. Shes going to meetings too.

Lastly, Im NOT gonna mention who, what, when, where and especially WHY, but I am terrified to think Barack Obama may be our President elect in less than a month. Thats all Im gonna say, so dont ask why, you wont get another word about it out of me. I have my sources, I have my reasons.

OK, Im done ramblin, love ya'll, have a good weekend!---

What's up with Face Book?

So I have had an account on a few social networking sites for the last three or four years now, I.E. myspace, linkedin, and FaceBook mostly for the purpose of keeping in touch with and growing my business associate data base. But all the sudden with in the last three weeks or so there has been a real flood of people and chatter on Face Book, and I now find my self visiting it more in one day than I have in the last 3 years. I guess I have to concede to becoming a little hooked on this thing. Maybe I finally have gone Koo Koo for Coco Puffs... I don't know. Any one else experience this as late?

Hows it goin?

---Things here are rather calm, which is fine by me. Still cant believe its October already, can you? Before we know it, the white stuff will be floating all over the place.

I honestly only understand the basics on the economy to talk about it, so I wont bother, I just hope that if any of you guys had investments that they didnt take a hit. All Ive been hearing is that this is gonna be a long and slow road to fully recover from it.

I went to my trusty mechanic this AM to drop off my car for an oil change and holy shit, the guy folded out of nowhere, he just tanked! He was a cool guy who was honest in his work, he'd cut off a decent chunk of labor fees if he knew you didnt have it, he did that for me twice. He was just good people. I guess Ill be going to Wal-Mart for my oil changes from now on, I aint goin to those Jiffy Lube kinda places where they charge ya 35-40 bucks for an oil change, thats robbery.

We have rain moving in tonight and tomorrow, only gonna be 65 tomorrow, but back to 70 by Weds.

I have been confronted with a rather serious problem and Im not sure what to do. I KNOW what I have to do, but can I handle it? This problem isnt/hasnt become dangerous or anything yet and its not about me, Im fine. Im just not sure what to do.

Details will follow when I can be more open about it once my mind set is more clear.---

Ive got the ankle blues

---I rolled my ankle twice last week. You know, when you are walking and your ankle just turns out under you? Yeah, that. So, its about the size of a tennis ball. I went in for an x ray this AM and I swear those SOBs dont care what kinda position they havta put you in to get a good picture. I understand that they have to do that to get the right angle for the shot but damn, can you say OUCH?

So, Ill know in a few days whats up. I know it isnt obviously broken, but my Dr. was worried about tendon damage.

My Mom is already planning out our new Christmas decor for the living room this year...all white and red, it sounds nice actually, I dont mind it. Woke up at 730 this AM and it was 42 degrees here, without a doubt the coldest morning weve had in a long time. Started wearing a jacket again.

Im pretty fed up with all the Presidential finger pointing and blaming from both sides of the pool. I feel Sarah Palin would not yet be ready to lead this Nation if something happened to Senator McCain and that concerns me. Obama concerns me, period.

The kid loves school, thinks its great! We dodged a bullet there. She has music class and art class and gym quite often. I would not be surprised if she ends up an artist in life, she is damn creative and has been fed an excellent plethora of music. Time will tell and there is plenty of it. I just dont want her dating a musician, thats all. Heh---

Over the Hill

So it's official,
I'm old.
I recently turned 35, (I spent most of the big day in Vegas, geeking out on Bike Stuff, not drinking, whoring or gambling.) which is bad enough....

but I just got back from the Jewel, where I bought beer (Amstel Light, of all things) among other things, and I wasn't ID'd. tattoo's, shorts, rumpled shirt. "yup, with that gray hair, he must be old enough to buy"

On more personal notes:
-We are reaching a big step in Bike Shop Land, we are planning on ordering a WHOLE CRAPLOAD (over 100) of bikes and expanding our offerings for 09, as well as some remodeling of the shop. kind of exciting and crazy times.
-The boys are in seperate schools for the first time in 5 years, which makes the morning routine a little less hectic.
-Tif got a cool job as asistant head coach of one the local Swim Teams "Chlorine is my drug of Choice" she says, so it's a great oppurtunity for her.
-Our puppy is slowin becoming a smaller pain in the ass, but our old dog is starting to take over.
more to follow as time permits

Surprise Balloon

It is not unusual to see balloons around here during the summer, how ever having one float just a few feet off the trees in your back yard is a little startling. C thought the experience was a little frightening but seems to have got over it. The balloon was a nice diversion to an otherwise lousy dinner (I.E. Crying baby, crabbing child, winning dog and no Mom). Typical Thursday!

Have a good weekend guys

---Isnt this economy stuff crazy? Wow! I hope that if any of you have invested anything that its in firm places and will be safe. What ya gonna do this weekend? Im spending the day with my Mom today cuz her Bday is tomorrow, but tomorrow I will be watching the kid at the ex's shop. Another custom clothing shop that is next door and is owned by some of her friends is having a grand opening so there will be extended hours for everyone. Kinda gonna suck if ya ask me. I dont wanna be there til 9 tomorrow night and I know the kid wont either. We'll figure something out.

By next week, its gonna top off in the mid 60s here all week, so it looks like fall will be here after all.....gonna be damn near 85 today. Ive had to lay D-Con in certain places around the house cuz Ive seen mice and I dont care what I have to do, those disgusting little bastards aint taking up winter shelter inside our home, no way.

I cant believe we are getting somewhat close to the year anniversary of Den's passing. Time flies.

Have a great weekend boys. Hope to see you back on here soon. Love yas---

Happy Fall boys!!!

Happy Fall Boys!!!

---Well, happy autumn boys. Yet another season passes by and another begins. Im pretty well falled up here, how about you? Ive got everything except for our year round patio table and my one last patio chair stored in the basement. Ive got the grill all wrapped up and ready for winter too. Even though it'll be used prolly 2 or 3 more times, we have the lawn mower tucked in with it's special tarp. Now all we do is wait for temps. to drop here. This AM its cloudy and kinda chilly, but by next weekend its gonna be fucking 80 again!

Are you guys ready for fall?

I wanted to send a special message out to our homesquid Mr. Steve way out West. I dunno what kind of fall you experience in that part of the country, so I just wanted to say I hope you enjoy life, period.

And just think, it only gets better from here boys, old man winter’s alarm clock is set to countdown now!---

Have a good weekend boys!

---Well, Im glad we got a lot of chit chat in about those darn squinnys, but I just wanted to say have a good weekend guys. What kinda plans ya got? I have nothing all too super special planned, the yard work is all wrapped up, so Ill be with the kid all day tomorrow and Sunday Ill prolly plop down in front of the idiot box for a day of Football.

Cant do much else since Im broke cuz my Mom's Bday is next weekend and Ive been saving up for that.

Ive been listening to a bit of Hank Williams again so I cant say my musical selection has been fun and upbeat either.

I just wanted to say have a good weekend.---

Crazy Critters

---Here in the great state of Iowa the common Chipmunk is known as a "Squinny". I love these little guys. Sometimes, yes, they dig in areas you really dont want them to, but if ya wanna get technical, they were here first, so whatever. Ive heard stories of them destroying foundations in peoples homes...yeah, that bad. We dont have any troubles like that here in our back yard and they seem to hang out on a daily basis by the truck load until it gets really cold out, then they go into torpor, which is a deep ass sleep, but not yet total hibernation.

They love bird food.

I can find them any day when its not raining up in our bird feeders eating like little pigs and I can literally talk at them while standing a mere 3 or 4 feet away and they dont even flinch. I was just outside having a ciggy and there was one fat SOB up in the bird feeder eating away like mad and all I did was cuss at it and watch him go.

Interesting rodents they are. Very gutsy. Very social.

So, what have you guys been up to? I see the you (PJB) are going to some bike related thing next week I believe, whats that about, it sounds interesting. Scott, I hope big man C and your little wee one are doing absolutely wonderful.

I think fall starts in a few days, am I wrong? Some of the trees around here are actually slowly starting to change now, but we have a Cottonwood tree in our back yard that is dropping dead leaves like mad. Some around here say that is just how they are...I was a little worried at first.

chat soon boys, love yas.---

Just for Grins

Just for grins I clicked the "Jan 2006" tab residing on the right hand side of our little blog. It's right there under the Archive heading.
Have you seen that lately?
I'm not sure I ever did that before, and found it interesting.
Try it sometime you have a few minutes, kind of fun to scroll back the clock just 3 years, after all, that was the point of all this...

True or false?

---Ive heard of this tale ever since I was young, growing up on the Northwest side of Chicago way back in the day. And now that we all mostly have kids of our own, I was curious to know if any of you have heard of this before. (By the way PJB, thanks for your post of the table of elements, that was pretty darn cool).

Ive always been told and Ive always believed, even to this day, that cooler days makes you more tired and relaxed and allows you to sleep better at night. Im not talking about Jan. or Feb. nights when its 25 below friggin zero, but more like those days when its in the upper 60s or so. Ive been told it has an effect on kids, making them fall asleep faster and sleep much deeper. I can even say that this still has an effect on me. Today is was about 65 here, cloudy and rather windy. I didnt do an effin thing today but run to the store early this AM and then proceed to watch football all day and I feel beat.

Im gonna call to talk to my small in a little bit then Ill be in bed. So, what do you think? What have ya heard? Does the cooler air knock the kids out easier?

What ya'll think?---

Things to Ponder

A little known fact about the Barson house, we have an educational bathroom...
Some time ago, while Tif was searching for a shower curtain, she came across one that was a map of the US. and a tradition was born, we have had shower curtains of Earth, the Solar system, and now we have the Periodic Table of the elements.
So I have been occasionally been ... um .... reading... this curtain, and have been fascinated by the names of the elements, and their corresponding Symbols.
Most symbols incorporate letters from their name, but several do not, for example "Golds" symbol is "Au".
Which starts me a wonderin',
Why would some get Symbols that don't match their names.
And If I were to "Discover" an element, what would I call it?
Would I name it after myself? Barson does have a certain ring to it, and would fit right in. or name it after where I live? Americum is taken, but Arlingtum is not.., or perhaps after something/Someone I hold dear, Tifinum?
Feel free to discuss, and share your thoughts

I did include a link in the title of this post, to a web table that is actually built of links that seem to describe the elements and their primary uses.

Rainy day weekender blues...

---I thought I was all ready for this kind of weather. I somewhat guessed wrong. Well hell, at least we dont live in TX. right now, I think we should all say a small prayer for them. Anyway folk, its been raining here all dang day and it is supposed to continue to do so until Sun. AM. I love the rain in the fall, but this kinda snuck up on me. Runnin in to stay as dry as possible. Finding some type of shelter to hide next to/under when heading out for that darn smoke break. Those are the things Im not ready for just yet. Granted sure, I have had my fill of Summer, and for the next week, it doesnt look to get above 75, so fall is upon us, but still sometimes its a little hard to say goodbye to the Summer Winds.

Have a good weekend boys, whats up over yonder???---

Untitled

---Hi boys! Well, fall has definitely started to show its face around here and its pretty darn nice. Its back to sleepin with the windows virtually closed with the covers pulled up nice and tight. It was 41 degrees when I got up here at 7 this AM. None of the trees 'round here have really started to change colors yet, but there are a few, mainly the one in my backyard that is beginning to lose it's leaves at a very fast rate. Ill be out there raking the 1st round of leaves all up within the next couple of weekends.

I weighed myself this AM and I am now stuck around 164 lbs. which I am really happy about. This was on the new digital scale I just picked up to, so Im hoping it's accurate.

I am pretty fed up with pre election hype, but if I have forever made most of you stop talking politics here on the blog, then I guess my goal has been accomplished! NO NO NO!!!!!! I AM TOTALLY PLAYING with you guys, but its fine by me if you dont wanna discuss politics with an ultra right winger such as myself. All I will say is if McCain and Palin get in and pull this off, the next morning on this blog you will hear about it from me...gotta rub it in somewhere. Kiddin, love you guys.....

Hows things goin over yonder in Illinois? Has fall started to kinda set in yet? Hows the business PJB, still on the slow down? How are the wee ones Scott?

My daughter started Kindergarten a few weeks ago and she loves it. Weve only had one bad breakdown so far where she screamed for Momma quite a bit, but was fine 20 mins. later. We are having trouble getting her to eat breakfast and then an hour after school has begun, she tells her teacher thats shes "starving". I need to talk with her again about the breakfast thing. I mean, even I eat breakfast now. I eat all pure shit for breakfast, but its not her concern what Im eating but more why I am eating to begin with.

The ex and I are doing as best we can for the kid's sake. Sometimes its hard as can be and on some days we have a great time. Right now, she is having a major over haul of her shop take place. Fresh paint, new colors, lingerie dept. upstairs, bridal dept. upstairs. She is also giving her websites all a new look with her new logo, name and so on. Its been hella busy for her for the past several weeks, but the act of getting the physical makeover wrapped up should be all done by tomorrow afternoon.

I have no idea as to what my daughter wants to be for Halloween this year, I will ask her tomorrow.

My Moms Birthday is in a couple weeks, which even hurts more? Den's Birthday is next week. This will be the first one for us to endure since his passing late last year. That and then my Mom has their anniversary to make it through and then her and I will have been through every major annual event in life without him here, so we are gettin there!

So, whats up boys? PJB, you gonna cut back your shop hours once fall is in full effect? I think this year my ex will definitely cut her open hours back once old man winter sets in. Right now she is closed Sun-Tues. and I am betting she adds Weds. to that also once winter starts his thing. She makes so much damn money on website sales that she doesnt havta rely on her actual store to make ends meet, its just an addition to what she already has.

So, brothers, whats the haps???---

Saying Goodbye...

---So, did any of you do anything special to say goodbye to Summer '08? I pulled the grill out one last time and we finished off the steaks in the fridge. It was steamy and hot here today also which didnt make it fun to stand in front of a grill, I think Ive outgrown that bullshit. By mid-week though, its supposed to be like 75 and cloudy. Fall is closer than some of us may think!

When I have some more time this week, Im gonna look into the thing about getting shipped off to Vietnam instead of jail time and whether or not it is true.

Im pretty happy w/ J. McCain's pick for his VP runnin mate, she comes off as being quite gutsy and definitely not intimidated by the best thing since sliced bread, Obama.

Well, thats about it. Hopefully, these high temps. will soon drop off for good and we will be able to welcome autumn into our region!

Whats up with you?---

fact or fiction?

---So this is gonna sound weird, or downright stupid, but Ive talked to several people as of late that said at the peak of The Vietnam War when a young man had got caught doing something illegal by the law and was set for trial, they were given 2 options.

The judge would either slap a somewhat hard sentence on them w/ no chance for parole. Either that, or the young man was offered Vietnam for war. Training courtesy of the Army.

Have any of you ever heard of this? Is it bullshit, or does it hold some truth?---

35

Well, I made it to 35 yesterday. The day itself was alright, my Mom took me out to breakfast, then to dinner later that evening. I got a new pinkie ring and yet another Dickies shirt. The day went off with a bang, but upstairs in the noggin, for the 1st time, I actually felt older, like I had aged another year!

Ive always dug on my Birthday cuz it means Fall isnt too far off, no more silly sweating and doing laundry 475 times a week, I can actually get away with wearing a t-shirt or whatever more than once!

I have to learn how to RELAX and bad. I have to learn how to get rid of some of the negativity in my head fast for it is really, I mean really effecting my ex's outlook on me and thus I get the kid kept away from me too.

Breathe in, breathe out. 1.....2.....and so on.....

Any brothers out there got any advice or tips for me?

Summer 08

Well summer 08 is almost up and I now have the 3 gigs of photos to prove it. It was not easy getting much of any thing done this summer with the new baby. However carrying a camera and taking photos was something I could do so I took a lot of pictures. Here are my favorites I hope you enjoy them.
We spent a lot of time with family this summer, so as you will see there are lots of photos with children. Those few images that don’t have people in them (always my favorites) are also linked into Google
maps, check them out.

just a check up on my boys.

---If Ive learned one damn thing in life its this....

Dont bother trying to pour your guts out to someone who is too "busy" to care. And, an ex is an ex for a reason.

Hows tricks? Things here are, well, they were kinda shitty, but I managed to get them back to being as normal as possible.

The kid friggin LOVES school, thinks its the best thing ever, yeah, wait til you hit Geometry kiddo.

Weather here has been ultra pleasant, highs only in the mid 80s and last night it got down to 56. Awesome sleepin weather.

Im glad that I cannot legally purchase a firearm. It makes my enemies a lot safer. What? Im just sayin......

How is suburbanite Chicago treating you guys? Hows the shop PJB? You had last mentioned that you were gettin into the "tail end" of the season. Scott, I know its VERY hard for you to post with the new wee one, but how are YOU holding up. Its always about the baby, never about the parents well being. I know Scott you are a GREAT Father, so ya hangin in there?

One last thing before I go....Joe Biden? Hahahahahaha.....WTF?
